The Apostles on Trial Before the Sanhedrin

27 And when they[a] had brought them, they made them[b] stand in the Sanhedrin,[c] and the high priest put a question to them, 28 saying, “We strictly commanded[d] you[e] not to teach in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching! And you are intending to bring upon us the blood of this man!” 29 But Peter and the apostles answered and[f] said, “It is necessary to obey God rather than men! 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you killed by[g] hanging him[h] on a tree. 31 This one God has exalted to his right hand as Leader and Savior to grant repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are witnesses of these things, and so is[i] the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey him.”

Psalm 118:14-29

14 Yah[a] is my strength and my song,[b]
and he has become my salvation.[c]
15 The sound of rejoicing and salvation[d]
is in the tents of the righteous;
the right hand of Yahweh has done valiantly.
16 The right hand of Yahweh has exalted;
the right hand of Yahweh has done valiantly.
17 I will not die but live,
and tell of the works of Yah.[e]
18 Yah has disciplined me severely,
but he did not consign[f] me to death.
19 Open to me the gates of righteousness,
that I may enter through them
and give thanks to Yah.[g]
20 This is the gate of Yahweh,
through which the righteous will enter.
21 I will give thanks to you for you have answered me,
and you have become my salvation.[h]
22 The stone the builders rejected
has become the chief cornerstone.
23 This is from Yahweh;
it is wonderful in our eyes.
24 This is the day Yahweh has worked;[i]
let us rejoice and be glad in him.[j]
25 O Yahweh, please save;
O Yahweh, please grant success.
26 Blessed is he who comes in the name of Yahweh.
We bless you[k] from the house[l] of Yahweh.
27 Yahweh is God, and he has given us light.[m]
Bind the festal sacrifice[n] with cords[o]
to the horns[p] of the altar.
28 You are my God, and I will give thanks to you.
You are my God; I will exalt you.
29 Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good,
for his loyal love is forever.

Psalm 150

Let Everything Praise Yahweh

150 Praise Yah.[a]
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty firmament.
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to the abundance of his greatness.
Praise him with blast of horn;
praise him with harp and lyre.
Praise him with tambourine and dancing;
praise him with strings and flute.
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with clashing cymbals.
Every breathing thing,
let it praise Yah.[b]
Praise Yah.[c]

Revelation 1:4-8

Greetings to the Churches

John, to the seven churches in Asia:[a] grace to you and peace from the one who is and the one who was and the one who is coming, and from the seven spirits who are before his throne, and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead and the ruler of the kings of the earth.

To the one who loves us and released us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father—to him be the glory and the power forever and ever[b]. Amen.

Behold, he is coming with the clouds,
    and every eye will see him,
even every one who pierced him,
    and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over him.

Yes, amen.

I am the Alpha and the Omega, says the Lord God, the one who is and the one who was and the one who is coming, the All-Powerful.

John 20:19-31

Jesus Appears to the Disciples

19 Now when it[a] was evening on that day—the first day of the week—and the doors had been shut where the disciples were because of fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace to you.” 20 And when he[b] had said this, he showed his[c] hands and his[d] side to them. Then the disciples rejoiced when they[e] saw the Lord. 21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you. As the Father has sent me, I also send you.” 22 And when he[f] had said this, he breathed on them[g] and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them. If you retain the sins[h] of any, they are retained.”

Thomas Doubts But Later Believes

24 Now Thomas, one of the twelve, who was called Didymus,[i] was not with them when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples said to him, “We have seen the Lord!” But he said to them, “Unless I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the mark of the nails, and put my hand into his side, I will never believe!”

26 And after eight days his disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Although[j] the doors had been shut, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said, “Peace to you.” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Place your finger here and see my hands, and place your hand and put it[k] into my side. And do not be unbelieving, but believing!” 28 Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” 29 Jesus said to him, “Because you have seen me, have you believed? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Why This Book Was Written

30 Now Jesus also performed many other signs in the presence of the disciples[l] which are not recorded in this book, 31 but these things are recorded in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by[m] believing you may have life in his name.
