Psalm 28

Yahweh Is My Strength and My Shield

Of David.

28 To You, O Yahweh, I call;
My (A)rock, do not be silent to me,
Lest if You (B)are hesitant toward me,
I will become like those who (C)go down to the pit.
Hear the (D)voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I (E)lift up my hands (F)toward [a]Your holy (G)sanctuary.
(H)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with workers of iniquity,
Who (I)speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
Give to them (J)according to their work and according to the evil of their actions;
Give to them according to the deeds of their hands;
Return their dealings upon them.
Because they (K)do not regard the works of Yahweh
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.

Blessed be Yahweh,
Because He (L)has heard the voice of my supplications.
Yahweh is my (M)strength and my (N)shield;
My heart (O)trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (P)my heart exults,
And with (Q)my song I shall thank Him.
Yahweh is [b]their (R)strength,
And He is a [c](S)strong defense of salvation to His anointed.
(T)Save Your people and bless (U)Your inheritance;
Be their (V)shepherd also, and (W)carry them forever.

Ezekiel 14:12-23

Calamitous Judgments of Jerusalem

12 Then the word of Yahweh came to me saying, 13 “Son of man, if a country sins against Me by (A)committing unfaithfulness, and I stretch out My hand against it, break its (B)staff of bread, send famine against it, and cut off from it both man and beast, 14 even (C)though these three men, (D)Noah, (E)Daniel, and (F)Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver (G)themselves,” declares Lord Yahweh. 15 “If I were to cause (H)wild beasts to pass through the land and they bereaved it of children and it became desolate so that no one would pass through it because of the beasts, 16 though these three men were in its midst, as I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “they could not deliver either their sons or their daughters. (I)They alone would be delivered, but the country would become desolate. 17 Or if I should (J)bring a sword on that country and say, ‘Let the sword pass through the country and (K)cut off man and beast from it,’ 18 even though these three men were in its midst, as I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “they could not deliver either their sons or their daughters, but they alone would be delivered. 19 Or if I should send a (L)plague against that country and pour out My wrath in blood on it to cut off man and beast from it, 20 even though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in its midst, as I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “they could not deliver either their son or their daughter. They would deliver only themselves by their righteousness.”

21 For thus says Lord Yahweh, “How much more when (M)I send My four calamitous judgments against Jerusalem: sword, famine, wild beasts, and plague to cut off man and beast from it! 22 Yet, behold, [a]survivors will be left in it who will be brought out, both sons and daughters. Behold, they are going to come forth to you, and you will (N)see their way and actions; then you will be (O)comforted for the calamity which I have brought against Jerusalem for everything which I have brought upon it. 23 Then they will comfort you when you see their way and actions, so you will know that I have not done (P)in vain all that I did [b]to it,” declares Lord Yahweh.

Matthew 20:29-34

Sight for the Blind

29 (A)And as they were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed Him. 30 And behold, two blind men sitting by the road, hearing that Jesus *was passing by, cried out, saying, “Lord, (B)have mercy on us, (C)Son of David!” 31 But the crowd sternly told them to be quiet, but they cried out all the more, saying, “Lord, (D)Son of David, have mercy on us!” 32 And Jesus stopped and called them, and said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 33 They *said to Him, “Lord, that our eyes be opened.” 34 And moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes; and immediately they regained their sight and followed Him.
