Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
25 Of You is (A)my praise in the great assembly;
I shall (B)pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26 The [a]afflicted will eat and (C)be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will (D)praise Yahweh.
May your (E)heart live forever!
27 All the (F)ends of the earth will remember and turn to Yahweh,
And all the (G)families of the nations will worship before [b]You.
28 For the (H)kingdom is Yahweh’s
And He (I)rules over the nations.
29 All the [c](J)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who (K)go down to the dust will bow before Him,
Even he who [d](L)cannot keep his soul alive.
30 (M)Their seed will serve Him;
It will be recounted about the Lord to (N)the coming generation.
31 They will come and (O)will declare His righteousness
To a people (P)who will be born, that He has done it.
A Famine for Hearing the Words of Yahweh
8 Thus Lord Yahweh showed me, and behold, there was a basket of summer fruit. 2 And he said, “What do you see, Amos?” And (A)I said, “A basket of summer fruit.” Then Yahweh said to me, “The (B)end has come for My people Israel. I will (C)pass over them no longer. 3 And they will (D)wail with the (E)songs of the palace in that day,” declares Lord Yahweh. “Many will be the (F)corpses; in every place [a]they will cast them forth [b]in silence.”
4 Hear this, you who [c](G)trample the needy, even to cause the humble of the land to cease, 5 saying,
“When will the (H)new moon pass over,
So that we may sell grain,
And the (I)sabbath, that we may open the wheat market,
To make the [d]bushel smaller and the [e]shekel bigger,
And to (J)cheat with a deceptive balance,
6 So as to (K)buy the poor for [f]money
And the needy for a pair of sandals,
And that we may sell the refuse of the wheat?”
Saul Persecutes the Church
8 (A)Now Saul was in hearty agreement with putting him to death.
And on that day a great persecution [a]began against (B)the church in Jerusalem, and they were all (C)scattered throughout the regions of Judea and (D)Samaria, except the apostles. 2 And some devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation over him. 3 But (E)Saul began ravaging the church, entering house after house, and (F)dragging off men and women, he was delivering them into prison.
Philip Preaches in Samaria
4 Therefore, those (G)who had been scattered went about, (H)proclaiming the good news of the word. 5 (I)Now Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began preaching [b]Christ to them. 6 And the crowds with one accord were giving attention to what was being said by Philip, as they heard and saw the [c]signs which he was doing. 7 For in the case of many who had (J)unclean spirits, they were coming out of them shouting with a loud voice; and many who had been (K)paralyzed and lame were healed. 8 So there was (L)great joy in that city.
