Psalm 125

Psalm 125

A Song of Ascents.

Those who trust in the Lord shall be as Mount Zion,
which cannot be removed, but abides forever.
As the mountains are around Jerusalem,
so the Lord surrounds His people,
    from now and forever.

For the scepter of the wicked shall not rest
upon the land allotted to the righteous,
lest the righteous put forth
    their hands to do iniquity.

Do good, O Lord, for those who are good,
and to those who are upright in their hearts.
As for those who turn aside to their twisted ways,
the Lord shall lead them away with the other workers of iniquity.

Peace be upon Israel!

Malachi 3:16-4:6

The Reward of the Faithful

16 Then those who feared the Lord spoke to one another. The Lord listened and heard them, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who fear the Lord and who esteem His name.

17 They shall be Mine, says the Lord of Hosts, on the day when I make up My jewels. And I will spare them as a man spares his son who serves him. 18 Then you will again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and one who does not serve Him.

The Great Day of the Lord

Surely the day is coming, burning like an oven; all the proud, yes, all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming will burn them up, says the Lord of Hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear My name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. You will go out and grow up like calves from the stall. And you will tread down the wicked, for they will be ashes under the soles of your feet, on the day when I do this, says the Lord of Hosts.

Remember the Law of Moses, My servant, the statutes and judgments which I commanded him at Horeb for all Israel.

See, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreaded day of the Lord. He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.

Mark 9:9-13

As they came down the mountain, He warned them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 They kept that statement to themselves, questioning each other what the rising from the dead meant.

11 And they asked Him, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must first come?”

12 He answered, “Elijah indeed comes first to restore all things. Yet how is it written of the Son of Man that He should suffer many things and be treated with contempt? 13 But I say to you that Elijah has indeed come, and they have done to him whatever they wished, as it is written of him.”
