Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Yahweh Is My Strength and My Shield
Of David.
28 To You, O Yahweh, I call;
My (A)rock, do not be silent to me,
Lest if You (B)are hesitant toward me,
I will become like those who (C)go down to the pit.
2 Hear the (D)voice of my supplications when I cry to You for help,
When I (E)lift up my hands (F)toward [a]Your holy (G)sanctuary.
3 (H)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with workers of iniquity,
Who (I)speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
4 Give to them (J)according to their work and according to the evil of their actions;
Give to them according to the deeds of their hands;
Return their dealings upon them.
5 Because they (K)do not regard the works of Yahweh
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be Yahweh,
Because He (L)has heard the voice of my supplications.
7 Yahweh is my (M)strength and my (N)shield;
My heart (O)trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (P)my heart exults,
And with (Q)my song I shall thank Him.
8 Yahweh is [b]their (R)strength,
And He is a [c](S)strong defense of salvation to His anointed.
9 (T)Save Your people and bless (U)Your inheritance;
Be their (V)shepherd also, and (W)carry them forever.
4 Thus says Yahweh my God, “Shepherd the flock doomed to (A)slaughter. 5 Those who buy them slaughter them and are not (B)held guilty, and each of those who sell them says, ‘Blessed be Yahweh. Indeed, (C)I have become rich!’ And their (D)own shepherds do not spare them. 6 For I will (E)no longer spare the inhabitants of the land,” declares Yahweh; “but behold, I will (F)cause the men to [a]fall, each into another’s hand and into the hand of his king; and they will crush the land, and I will (G)not deliver them from their hand.”
7 So I (H)shepherded the flock doomed to slaughter—[b]hence the (I)afflicted of the flock. And I took for myself two (J)staffs: the one I called [c](K)Favor, and the other I called [d](L)Union; so I shepherded the flock. 8 Then I annihilated the three shepherds in (M)one month, for my soul was impatient with them, and their soul also [e]was weary of me. 9 Then I said, “I will not shepherd you. What is to (N)die, [f]let it die, and what is to be annihilated, [g]let it be annihilated; and [h]let those who remain consume one another’s flesh.” 10 And I took my staff [i](O)Favor and cut it in pieces, to [j](P)break my covenant which I had cut with all the peoples. 11 So it was [k]broken on that day, and [l]thus the (Q)afflicted of the flock who were watching me knew that it was the word of Yahweh. 12 And I said to them, “If it is good in your sight, give me my (R)wages; but if not, [m]never mind!” So they weighed out (S)thirty [n]shekels of silver as my wages. 13 Then Yahweh said to me, “Throw it to the (T)potter, that valuable price at which I was valued by them.” So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of Yahweh. 14 Then I cut in pieces my second staff [o](U)Union, to (V)break the brotherhood between Judah and Israel.
15 Then Yahweh said to me, “Take again for yourself the equipment of a [p](W)foolish shepherd. 16 For behold, I am going to raise up a shepherd in the land who will (X)not care for those who face annihilation, seek the young, heal the broken, or sustain the one standing, but will (Y)consume the flesh of the fat sheep and tear off their hoofs.
Hallelujah!
19 After these things I heard something like a (A)loud voice of a great crowd in heaven, saying,
“(B)Hallelujah! (C)Salvation and (D)glory and power belong to our God; 2 (E)because His (F)judgments are (G)true and righteous; for He has judged the (H)great harlot who was corrupting the earth with her sexual immorality, and He has (I)avenged the blood of His slaves shed by her hand.” 3 And a second time they said, “(J)Hallelujah! (K)Her smoke rises up forever and ever.” 4 And the (L)twenty-four elders and the (M)four living creatures (N)fell down and worshiped God who sits on the throne saying, “(O)Amen. (P)Hallelujah!” 5 And a voice came from the throne, saying,
“(Q)Give praise to our God, all you His slaves, (R)you who fear Him, the small and the great.” 6 Then I heard something like (S)the voice of a great crowd and like (T)the sound of many waters and like the (U)sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying,
“(V)Hallelujah! For the (W)Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns.
The Marriage Supper of the Lamb
7 Let us rejoice and be glad and (X)give the glory to Him, for (Y)the marriage of the Lamb has come and His [a](Z)bride has made herself ready.” 8 And it was given to her to clothe herself in (AA)fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the (AB)righteous acts of the saints.
9 Then (AC)he *said to me, “(AD)Write, ‘(AE)Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.’” And he *said to me, “(AF)These are true words of God.”
