Exodus 33:12-23

Moses and the Glory of Yahweh

12 Then Moses said to Yahweh, “See, You say to me, ‘(A)Bring up this people!’ But You Yourself have not let me know (B)whom You will send with me. (C)Moreover, You have said, ‘I have known you by name, and you have also found favor in My sight.’ 13 So now, I pray You, if I have found favor in Your sight, (D)let me know Your ways that I may know You, so that I may find favor in Your sight. (E)See also, that this nation is Your people.” 14 And He said, “(F)My presence shall go with you, and (G)I will give you rest.” 15 Then he said to Him, “(H)If Your presence does not go with us, do not lead us up from here. 16 Indeed, how then can it be known that I have found favor in Your sight, I and Your people? Is it not by Your going with us, so that (I)we, I and Your people, may be distinguished from all the other people who are upon the face of the [a]earth?”

17 Then Yahweh said to Moses, “I will also do this thing of which you have spoken; (J)for you have found favor in My sight, and I have known you by name.” 18 (K)Then [b]Moses said, “I pray You, show me Your glory!” 19 And He said, “(L)I Myself will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of Yahweh before you; and (M)I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will show compassion on whom I will show compassion.” 20 But He said, “You cannot see My face, (N)for no man can see Me and live!” 21 Then Yahweh said, “Behold, there is a place [c]by Me, and (O)you shall stand there on the rock; 22 and it will come about, while My glory is passing by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock and (P)cover you with My hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will remove My hand, and you shall see My back, but (Q)My face shall not be seen.”

Psalm 99

Holy Is Yahweh Our God

99 (A)Yahweh reigns, let the peoples tremble;
He (B)sits enthroned above the cherubim, let the earth quake!
Yahweh is (C)great in Zion,
And He is (D)exalted above all the peoples.
Let them praise Your (E)great and awesome name;
(F)Holy is [a]He.
[b]The strength of the King (G)loves [c]justice;
You have established [d](H)equity;
You have (I)done [e]justice and righteousness in Jacob.
(J)Exalt Yahweh our God
And (K)worship at the footstool of His feet;
(L)Holy is He.

(M)Moses and Aaron were among His (N)priests,
And (O)Samuel was among those who (P)called on His name;
They (Q)would call upon Yahweh and He would answer them.
He (R)would speak to them in the pillar of cloud;
They (S)kept His testimonies
And the statute that He gave them.
O Yahweh our God, You (T)answered them;
You were a (U)forgiving God to them,
And yet an (V)avenger of their evil deeds.
Exalt Yahweh our God
And worship at His holy mountain,
For holy is Yahweh our God.

1 Thessalonians 1

Thanksgiving

(A)Paul and (B)Silvanus and (C)Timothy,

To the (D)church of the Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: (E)Grace to you and peace.

(F)We give thanks to God always for all of you, (G)making mention of you in our prayers; remembering without ceasing your (H)work of faith and labor of (I)love and [a](J)steadfastness of hope [b]in our Lord Jesus Christ before (K)our God and Father, knowing, (L)brothers beloved by God, (M)your election, for our (N)gospel did not come to you in word only, but also (O)in power and in the Holy Spirit and with (P)full assurance; just as you know (Q)what kind of men we [c]proved to be among you for your sake. You also became (R)imitators of us and of the Lord, (S)having received (T)the word in much affliction with the (U)joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became a model to all the believers in (V)Macedonia and in (W)Achaia. For (X)the word of the Lord has (Y)sounded forth from you, not only in (Z)Macedonia and (AA)Achaia, but also (AB)in every place your faith toward God has gone forth, so that we have no need to say anything. For they themselves report about us what kind of an (AC)entrance we had [d]with you, and how you (AD)turned to God (AE)from [e]idols to serve [f](AF)a living and true God, 10 and to (AG)wait for His Son from [g]heaven, whom He (AH)raised from the dead, Jesus, who (AI)rescues us from (AJ)the wrath to come.

Matthew 22:15-22

Taxes to Caesar

15 (A)Then the Pharisees went and took counsel together about how they might trap Him [a]in what He said. 16 And they *sent their disciples to Him, along with the (B)Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that You are truthful and teach the way of God in truth, and [b]defer to no one; for You are not partial to any. 17 Therefore, tell us, what do You think? Is it [c]lawful to give a (C)tax to (D)Caesar, or not?” 18 But Jesus, knowing their wickedness, said, “Why are you testing Me, you hypocrites? 19 Show Me the (E)coin used for the tax.” And they brought Him a [d]denarius. 20 And He *said to them, “Whose likeness and inscription is this?” 21 They *said to Him, “Caesar’s.” Then He *said to them, (F)Therefore, render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s; and to God the things that are God’s.” 22 And hearing this, they marveled, and (G)leaving Him, they went away.
