²⁵ Then he ^(A)cried out to Yahweh, and Yahweh showed him ^(B)a tree; and he threw it into the waters, and the waters became sweet.

There He ^(C)set for them a statute and a judgment, and there He ^(D)tested them.

³⁰ Now it happened on the next day, that Moses said to the people, “^(A)You yourselves have ^[a]committed a great sin; but now I am going up to Yahweh, perhaps I can ^(B)make atonement for your sin.” ³¹ Then Moses returned to Yahweh and said, “Alas, this people has ^[b]committed a great sin, and they have made ^[c](C)gods of gold for themselves. ³² But now, if You will forgive their sin—but if not, please blot me out from Your ^(D)book which You have written!” ³³ And Yahweh said to Moses, “Whoever has sinned against Me, ^(E)I will blot him out of My book. ³⁴ But now go, guide the people ^(F)where I told you. Behold, ^(G)My angel shall go before you; nevertheless ^(H)in the day when I ^[d]punish, ^(I)I will ^[e]punish them for their sin.”
