Psalm 86:11-17

11 (A)Teach me Your way, Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
(B)Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will (C)give thanks to You, Lord my God, with all my heart,
And I will glorify Your name forever.
13 For Your graciousness toward me is great,
And You have (D)saved my soul from the [a]depths of [b]Sheol.

14 God, arrogant men have (E)risen up against me,
And a gang of violent men have sought my [c]life,
And they have not set You before them.
15 But You, Lord, are a (F)compassionate and gracious God,
Slow to anger and abundant in mercy and [d]truth.
16 (G)Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
(H)Grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the (I)son of Your maidservant.
17 (J)Show me a sign of good,
That those who hate me may (K)see it and be ashamed,
Because You, Lord, (L)have helped me and comforted me.

Jeremiah 42:18-22

18 For this is what the Lord of armies, the God of Israel says: “As My (A)anger and wrath have gushed out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so My wrath will gush out on you when you enter Egypt. And you will become a (B)curse, an object of horror, [a]an imprecation, and a disgrace; and (C)you will not see this place again.” 19 The Lord has spoken to you, you remnant of Judah, “Do not (D)go to Egypt!” You (E)know for certain that I have (F)admonished you today. 20 For you have only [b](G)deceived yourselves; for it is you who sent me to the Lord your God, saying, “Pray for us to the Lord our God; and whatever the Lord our God says, tell us so, and we will do it.” 21 So I have (H)told you today, but you have (I)not [c]obeyed the Lord your God in whatever He has sent me to tell you. 22 And now you shall know for certain that you will (J)die by the sword, by famine, or by plague in the (K)place where you desire to go to reside.

Matthew 10:5-23

(A)These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them, saying, “Do not go on a road [a]to Gentiles, and do not enter a city of (B)Samaritans; but rather go to (C)the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as you go, [b]preach, saying, ‘(D)The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those with leprosy, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. (E)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, 10 or a [c]bag for your journey, or even two [d]tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for (F)the worker is deserving of his [e]support. 11 And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay [f]at his house until you leave that city. 12 As you enter the [g]house, (G)give it your [h]greeting. 13 If the house is worthy, see that your blessing of peace comes upon it. But if it is not worthy, [i]take back your blessing of peace. 14 And whoever does not receive you nor listen to your words, as you leave that house or city, (H)shake the dust off your feet. 15 Truly I say to you, (I)it will be more tolerable for the land of (J)Sodom and Gomorrah on (K)the day of judgment, than for that city.

A Hard Road Ahead of Them

16 (L)Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so be as (M)wary as serpents, and as (N)innocent as doves. 17 But be on guard against people, for they will hand you over to the (O)courts and flog you (P)in their synagogues; 18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings on My account, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19 (Q)But when they hand you over, (R)do not worry about how or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given you in that hour. 20 For (S)it is not you who are speaking, but it is the Spirit of your Father who is speaking [j]in you.

21 “Now (T)brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and (U)children will rise up against parents and [k]cause them to be put to death. 22 And (V)you will be hated by all because of My name, but (W)it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

23 “But whenever they (X)persecute you in [l]one city, flee to the [m]next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel (Y)until the Son of Man comes.
