Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
9 Be gracious to me, O Lord, for I am (A)in distress;
(B)my eye is wasted from grief;
my soul and my body also.
10 For my life is spent with sorrow,
and my years with sighing;
my strength fails because of my iniquity,
and (C)my bones waste away.
11 Because of all my adversaries I have become (D)a reproach,
especially to my (E)neighbors,
and an object of dread to my acquaintances;
those who see me in the street (F)flee from me.
12 I have been (G)forgotten like one who is dead;
I have become like (H)a broken vessel.
13 For I (I)hear the whispering of many—
terror on every side!—
(J)as they scheme together against me,
as they plot to take my life.
55 (A)“I called on your name, O Lord,
from the depths of the pit;
56 (B)you heard my plea, ‘Do not close
your ear to my cry for help!’
57 (C)You came near when I called on you;
you said, (D)‘Do not fear!’
58 “You have (E)taken up my cause, (F)O Lord;
you have (G)redeemed my life.
59 You have seen the wrong done to me, (H)O Lord;
judge my cause.
60 You have seen all their vengeance,
all (I)their plots against me.
Jesus Foretells His Death a Third Time
32 (A)And they were on the road, going up to Jerusalem, and (B)Jesus was walking ahead of them. And (C)they were amazed, and those who followed were afraid. And taking the twelve again, he began to tell them what was to happen to him, 33 saying, “See, (D)we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be delivered over to the chief priests and the scribes, and they will (E)condemn him to death and (F)deliver him over to the Gentiles. 34 And they will (G)mock him and (H)spit on him, and flog him and kill him. And (I)after three days he will rise.”
