Choose Life

15 “See, (A)I have set before you today life and [a]prosperity, and death and [b]calamity; 16 in that I am commanding you today (B)to love Yahweh your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you (C)may live and multiply, and that Yahweh your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it. 17 But if your heart turns away and you will not listen, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them, 18 I declare to you today that (D)you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter [c]and possess it. 19 (E)I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, (F)the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your seed, 20 (G)by loving Yahweh your God, by listening to His voice, and (H)by holding fast to Him; (I)for [d]this is your life and the length of your days, [e]that you may live in (J)the land which Yahweh swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.”

Psalm 119:1-8

I Love Your Law, O Yahweh

Aleph

119 How blessed are those whose way is [a](A)blameless,
Who (B)walk in the law of Yahweh.
How blessed are those who (C)observe His testimonies,
They (D)seek Him (E)with all their heart.
They also do not (F)work unrighteousness;
They walk in His ways.
You have (G)commanded us,
To keep Your precepts [b]diligently.
Oh may my (H)ways be established
To (I)keep Your statutes!
Then I (J)shall not be ashamed
When I look [c]upon all Your commandments.
I shall (K)give thanks to You with uprightness of heart,
When I learn Your righteous judgments.
I shall keep Your statutes;
Do not (L)forsake me utterly!

1 Corinthians 3:1-9

Jesus Christ, Our Foundation

And I, brothers, was not able to speak to you as to (A)spiritual men, but as to (B)fleshly men, as to (C)infants in Christ. I gave you (D)milk to drink, not solid food, for you (E)were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are still not able, for you are still fleshly. For since there is (F)jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking [a](G)like mere men? For when (H)one says, “I am of Paul,” and another, “I am of Apollos,” are you not mere (I)men?

What then is Apollos? And what is Paul? (J)Servants through whom you believed, even (K)as the Lord gave to each one. (L)I planted, (M)Apollos watered, but (N)God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one, but each will (O)receive his own [b]reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s (P)fellow workers; you are God’s [c](Q)field, God’s (R)building.

Matthew 5:21-37

Personal Relationships

21 (A)You have heard that [a]the ancients were told, ‘(B)You shall not murder’ and ‘Whoever murders shall be guilty before (C)the court.’ 22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before (D)the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘[b]Raca,’ shall be guilty before the [c](E)Sanhedrin; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the [d](F)fiery hell. 23 Therefore if you are (G)presenting your [e]offering at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your [f]offering there before the altar and go; first be (H)reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your [g]offering. 25 (I)Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison. 26 Truly I say to you, (J)you will not come out of there until you have paid up the last [h]quadrans.

27 (K)You have heard that it was said, ‘(L)You shall not commit adultery’; 28 but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman (M)to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 (N)But if your right eye makes you [i]stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you [j]to lose one of the parts of your body, [k]than for your whole body to be thrown into [l](O)hell. 30 (P)And if your right hand makes you [m]stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you [n]to lose one of the parts of your body, [o]than for your whole body to go into [p](Q)hell.

31 “Now it was said, ‘(R)Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce’; 32 (S)but I say to you that everyone who [q]divorces his wife, except for the reason of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a [r]divorced woman commits adultery.

33 “Again, (T)you have heard that [s]the ancients were told, ‘[t](U)You shall not [u]make false vows, but shall fulfill your [v]vows to the [w]Lord.’ 34 But I say to you, (V)make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is (W)the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is the (X)footstool of His feet, or [x]by Jerusalem, for it is (Y)the city of the great King. 36 Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is [y]of (Z)the evil one.
