^29 (A)But if your right eye makes you ^[a]stumble, tear it out and throw it from you; for it is better for you ^[b]to lose one of the parts of your body, ^[c]than for your whole body to be thrown into ^[d](B)hell. ^30 (C)And if your right hand makes you ^[e]stumble, cut it off and throw it from you; for it is better for you ^[f]to lose one of the parts of your body, ^[g]than for your whole body to go into ^[h](D)hell.

³¹ “Now it was said, ‘^(E)Whoever sends his wife away, let him give her a certificate of divorce’; ^32 (F)but I say to you that everyone who ^[i]divorces his wife, except for the reason of sexual immorality, makes her commit adultery; and whoever marries a ^[j]divorced woman commits adultery.

³³ “Again, ^(G)you have heard that ^[k]the ancients were told, ‘^[l](H)You shall not ^[m]make false vows, but shall fulfill your ^[n]vows to the ^[o]Lord.’ ³⁴ But I say to you, ^(I)make no oath at all, either by heaven, for it is ^(J)the throne of God, ³⁵ or by the earth, for it is the ^(K)footstool of His feet, or ^[p]by Jerusalem, for it is ^(L)the city of the great King. ³⁶ Nor shall you make an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. ³⁷ But let your statement be, ‘Yes, yes’ or ‘No, no’; anything beyond these is ^[q]of ^(M)the evil one.

³⁸ “^(N)You have heard that it was said, ‘^(O)An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth.’ ³⁹ But I say to you, do not resist an evil person; but ^(P)whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. ⁴⁰ And if anyone wants to sue you and take your ^[r]tunic, let him have your ^[s]garment also. ⁴¹ And whoever ^[t]forces you to go one mile, go with him two. ^42 (Q)Give to him who asks of you, and do not turn away from him who wants to borrow from you.

⁴³ “^(R)You have heard that it was said, ‘^(S)You shall love your neighbor ^(T)and hate your enemy.’ ⁴⁴ But I say to you, ^(U)love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, ⁴⁵ so that you may ^[u]be ^(V)sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. ⁴⁶ For ^(W)if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? ⁴⁷ And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? ⁴⁸ Therefore ^[v](X)you are to be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

²⁸ And do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather ^(A)fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in ^[a](B)hell.

^9 (A)And if your eye causes you to stumble, tear it out and throw it from you. It is better for you to enter life with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into the ^[a](B)fiery hell.

¹⁵ “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because you travel around on sea and land to make one ^[a](A)proselyte; and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of ^[b](B)hell as yourselves.

³³ You serpents, ^(A)you brood of vipers, how ^[a]will you escape the ^[b]sentence of ^[c](B)hell?

^43 (A)And if your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life crippled, than, having your two hands, to go into ^[a](B)hell, into the ^(C)unquenchable fire, ^44 [b][and where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] ⁴⁵ And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame, than, having your two feet, to be cast into ^[c](D)hell, ^46 [d][and where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched.] ^47 (E)And if your eye causes you to stumble, gouge it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than, having two eyes, to be cast into ^[e](F)hell, ^48 (G)where their worm does not die, and ^(H)the fire is not quenched.

⁴⁹ “For everyone will be salted with fire. ⁵⁰ Salt is good; but ^(I)if the salt becomes unsalty, with what will you ^[f]make it salty again? ^(J)Have salt in yourselves, and ^(K)be at peace with one another.”

⁵ But I will show you whom to fear: ^(A)fear the One who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into ^[a](B)hell; yes, I tell you, fear Him!

⁶ And ^(A)the tongue is a fire, the very world of unrighteousness; the tongue is set among our members as that which ^(B)defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our ^[a]existence, and is set on fire by ^[b](C)hell.
