Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
75 Unto Thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto Thee do we give thanks. For that Thy name is near, Thy wondrous works declare.
2 When I shall receive the congregation, I will judge uprightly.
3 When the earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved, I bear up the pillars of it. Selah
4 I said unto the fools, “Deal not foolishly,” and to the wicked, “Lift not up the horn.
5 Lift not up your horn on high; speak not with a stiff neck.”
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south,
7 but God is the Judge: He putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8 For in the hand of the Lord there is a cup, and the wine is red and fully mixed; and He poureth out the same. But as for the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out and drink them.
9 But I will declare it for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked will I also cut off, but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.
4 And Mesha king of Moab was a sheepmaster, and rendered unto the king of Israel a hundred thousand lambs and a hundred thousand rams with the wool.
5 But it came to pass, when Ahab was dead, that the king of Moab rebelled against the king of Israel.
6 And King Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time and numbered all Israel.
7 And he went and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, saying, “The king of Moab hath rebelled against me. Wilt thou go with me against Moab to battle?” And he said, “I will go up; I am as thou art, my people as thy people, and my horses as thy horses.”
8 And he said, “Which way shall we go up?” And he answered, “The way through the Wilderness of Edom.”
9 So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah and the king of Edom; and they made a circuit of seven days’ journey. And there was no water for the host and for the cattle that followed them.
10 And the king of Israel said, “Alas! that the Lord hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab!”
11 But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, “Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”
12 And Jehoshaphat said, “The word of the Lord is with him.” So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him.
13 And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, “What have I to do with thee? Get thee to the prophets of thy father and to the prophets of thy mother.” And the king of Israel said unto him, “Nay, for the Lord hath called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
14 And Elisha said, “As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee.
15 But now bring me a minstrel.” And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.
16 And he said, “Thus saith the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’
17 For thus saith the Lord: ‘Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye and your cattle and your beasts.’
18 And this is but a light thing in the sight of the Lord; He will deliver the Moabites also into your hand.
19 And ye shall smite every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones.”
20 And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.
6 Let no man deceive you with vain words, for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be ye not therefore partakers with them.
8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now ye are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
9 (for the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth),
10 proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them,
12 for it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret.
13 But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light, for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
14 Therefore He saith: “Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.”
15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 Therefore, be ye not unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit,
19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord,
20 giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
