38 And Jehovah answered Job out of the whirlwind and said,

² Who is this that darkeneth counsel by words without knowledge?

³ Gird up now thy loins like a man; and I will demand of thee, and inform thou me.

⁴ Where wast thou when I founded the earth? Declare, if thou hast understanding.

⁵ Who set the measures thereof—if thou knowest? or who stretched a line upon it?

⁶ Whereupon were the foundations thereof sunken? or who laid its corner-stone,

⁷ When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

³⁴ Dost thou lift up thy voice to the clouds, that floods of waters may cover thee?

³⁵ Dost thou send forth lightnings that they may go, and say unto thee, Here we are?

³⁶ Who hath put wisdom in the inward parts? or who hath given understanding to the mind?

³⁷ Who numbereth the clouds with wisdom? or who poureth out the bottles of the heavens,

³⁸ When the dust runneth as into a molten mass, and the clods cleave fast together?

³⁹ Dost thou hunt the prey for the lioness, and dost thou satisfy the appetite of the young lions,

⁴⁰ When they crouch in [their] dens, [and] abide in the thicket to lie in wait?

⁴¹ Who provideth for the raven his food, when his young ones cry unto God, [and] they wander for lack of meat?

104 Bless Jehovah, O my soul! Jehovah my God, thou art very great; thou art clothed with majesty and splendour;

² Covering thyself with light as with a garment, stretching out the heavens like a tent-curtain;—

³ Who layeth the beams of his upper chambers in the waters, who maketh clouds his chariot, who walketh upon the wings of the wind;

⁴ Who maketh his angels spirits; his ministers a flame of fire.

⁵ He laid the earth upon its foundations: it shall not be removed for ever.

⁶ Thou hadst covered it with the deep, as with a vesture; the waters stood above the mountains:

⁷ At thy rebuke they fled, at the voice of thy thunder they hasted away;—

⁸ The mountains rose, the valleys sank, unto the place which thou hadst founded for them;—

⁹ Thou hast set a bound which they may not pass over, that they turn not again to cover the earth.

²⁴ How manifold are thy works, O Jehovah! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

³⁵ Sinners shall be consumed out of the earth, and the wicked shall be no more. Bless Jehovah, O my soul. Hallelujah!

5 For every high priest taken from amongst men is established for men in things relating to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins;

² being able to exercise forbearance towards the ignorant and erring, since he himself also is clothed with infirmity;

³ and, on account of this [infirmity], he ought, even as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.

⁴ And no one takes the honour to himself but [as] called by God, even as Aaron also.

⁵ Thus the Christ also has not glorified himself to be made a high priest; but he who had said to him, *Thou* art my Son, *I* have to-day begotten thee.

⁶ Even as also in another [place] he says, *Thou* [art] a priest for ever according to the order of Melchisedec.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up both supplications and entreaties to him who was able to save him out of death, with strong crying and tears; (and having been heard because of his piety;)

⁸ though he were Son, he learned obedience from the things which he suffered;

⁹ and having been perfected, became to all them that obey him, author of eternal salvation;

¹⁰ addressed by God [as] high priest according to the order of Melchisedec.

³⁵ And there come to him James and John, the sons of Zebedee, saying [to him], Teacher, we would that whatsoever we may ask thee, thou wouldst do it for us.

³⁶ And he said to them, What would ye that I should do for you?

³⁷ And they said to him, Give to us that we may sit, one on thy right hand, and one on thy left hand, in thy glory.

³⁸ And Jesus said to them, Ye do not know what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup which *I* drink, or be baptised with the baptism that *I* am baptised with?

³⁹ And they said to him, We are able. And Jesus said to them, The cup that *I* drink ye will drink and with the baptism that *I* am baptised with ye will be baptised,

⁴⁰ but to sit on my right hand or on my left is not mine to give, but for those for whom it is prepared.

⁴¹ And the ten having heard [of it], began to be indignant about James and John.

⁴² But Jesus having called them to [him], says to them, Ye know that those who are esteemed to rule over the nations exercise lordship over them; and their great men exercise authority over them;

⁴³ but it is not thus among you; but whosoever would be great among you, shall be your minister;

⁴⁴ and whosoever would be first of you shall be bondman of all.

⁴⁵ For also the Son of man did not come to be ministered to, but to minister, and give his life a ransom for many.
