David Plans to Build a Temple

(A)Now it came about when the king lived in his house, and the Lord had given him rest on every side from all his enemies, that the king said to (B)Nathan the prophet, “See now, I dwell in (C)a house of cedar, but the ark of God (D)dwells within tent curtains.” Nathan said to the king, “(E)Go, do all that is in your mind, for the Lord is with you.”

But in the same night the word of the Lord came to Nathan, saying, “Go and say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord, “(F)Are you the one who should build Me a house to dwell in? For (G)I have not dwelt in a house since the day I brought up the sons of Israel from Egypt, even to this day; but I have been moving about (H)in a tent, even in a [a]tabernacle. (I)Wherever I have gone with all the sons of Israel, did I speak a word with one of the tribes of Israel, (J)which I commanded to shepherd My people Israel, saying, ‘Why have you not built Me a house of cedar?’”’

God’s Covenant with David

“Now therefore, thus you shall say to My servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, “(K)I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, (L)to be ruler over My people Israel. (M)I have been with you wherever you have gone and (N)have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a great name, like the names of the great men who are on the earth. 10 I will also appoint a place for My people Israel and (O)will plant them, that they may live in their own place and not be disturbed again, (P)nor will the [b]wicked afflict them any more as formerly, 11 even (Q)from the day that I commanded judges to be over My people Israel; and (R)I will give you rest from all your enemies. The Lord also declares to you that (S)the Lord will make a house for you. 12 (T)When your days are complete and you (U)lie down with your fathers, (V)I will raise up your [c]descendant after you, who will come forth from [d]you, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 (W)He shall build a house for My name, and (X)I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 (Y)I will be a father to him and he will be a son to Me; (Z)when he commits iniquity, I will correct him with the rod of men and the strokes of the sons of men,

Psalm 89:20-37

20 “I have (A)found David My servant;
With My holy (B)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (C)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (D)strengthen him.
22 “The enemy will not [a]deceive him,
Nor the [b](E)son of wickedness afflict him.
23 “But I shall (F)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 “My (G)faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him,
And in My name his (H)horn will be exalted.
25 “I shall also set his hand (I)on the sea
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 “He will cry to Me, ‘You are (J)my Father,
My God, and the (K)rock of my salvation.’
27 “I also shall make him My (L)firstborn,
The (M)highest of the kings of the earth.
28 “My (N)lovingkindness I will keep for him forever,
And My (O)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
29 “So I will establish his [c](P)descendants forever
And his (Q)throne (R)as the days of heaven.

30 “If his sons (S)forsake My law
And do not walk in My judgments,
31 If they [d]violate My statutes
And do not keep My commandments,
32 Then I will punish their transgression with the (T)rod
And their iniquity with stripes.
33 “But I will not break off (U)My lovingkindness from him,
Nor deal falsely in My faithfulness.
34 “My (V)covenant I will not [e]violate,
Nor will I (W)alter [f]the utterance of My lips.
35 [g]Once I have (X)sworn by My holiness;
I will not lie to David.
36 “His [h](Y)descendants shall endure forever
And his (Z)throne (AA)as the sun before Me.
37 “It shall be established forever (AB)like the moon,
And the (AC)witness in the sky is faithful.” [i]Selah.

Ephesians 2:11-22

11 Therefore remember that (A)formerly (B)you, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called “(C)Uncircumcision” by the so-called “(D)Circumcision,” which is performed in the flesh by human hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separate from Christ, [a](E)excluded from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to (F)the covenants of promise, having (G)no hope and (H)without God in the world. 13 But now in (I)Christ Jesus you who (J)formerly were (K)far off [b]have (L)been brought near [c](M)by the blood of Christ. 14 For He Himself is (N)our peace, (O)who made both groups into one and broke down the [d]barrier of the dividing wall, 15 [e]by (P)abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is (Q)the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, so that in Himself He might [f](R)make the two into (S)one new man, thus establishing (T)peace, 16 and might (U)reconcile them both in (V)one body to God through the cross, [g]by it having (W)put to death the enmity. 17 And (X)He came and preached (Y)peace to you who were (Z)far away, and peace to those who were (AA)near; 18 for through Him we both have (AB)our access in (AC)one Spirit to (AD)the Father. 19 So then you are no longer (AE)strangers and aliens, but you are (AF)fellow citizens with the [h]saints, and are of (AG)God’s household, 20 having been (AH)built on (AI)the foundation of (AJ)the apostles and prophets, (AK)Christ Jesus Himself being the (AL)corner stone, 21 (AM)in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into (AN)a holy [i]temple in the Lord, 22 in whom you also are being (AO)built together into a (AP)dwelling of God in the Spirit.

Mark 6:30-34

30 (A)The (B)apostles *gathered together with Jesus; and they reported to Him all that they had done and taught. 31 And He *said to them, “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (For there were many people coming and going, and (C)they did not even have time to eat.) 32 (D)They went away in (E)the boat to a secluded place by themselves.

Five Thousand Fed

33 The people saw them going, and many recognized them and ran there together on foot from all the cities, and got there ahead of them. 34 When Jesus went [a]ashore, He (F)saw a large crowd, and He felt compassion for them because (G)they were like sheep without a shepherd; and He began to teach them many things.

Mark 6:53-56

Healing at Gennesaret

53 (A)When they had crossed over they came to land at Gennesaret, and moored to the shore. 54 When they got out of the boat, immediately the people recognized Him, 55 and ran about that whole country and began to carry here and there on their pallets those who were sick, to [a]the place they heard He was. 56 Wherever He entered villages, or cities, or countryside, they were laying the sick in the market places, and imploring Him that they might just (B)touch (C)the fringe of His cloak; and as many as touched it were being cured.
