^14 (A)The anger of the Lord burned against Israel, and He gave them into the hands of plunderers who plundered them; and ^(B)He sold them into the hands of their enemies around them, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies. ¹⁵ Wherever they went, the hand of the Lord was against them for evil, as the Lord had spoken and ^(C)as the Lord had sworn to them, so that they were severely distressed.

^16 (D)Then the Lord raised up judges ^[a]who delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them.

⁹ But ^(A)they forgot the Lord their God, so ^(B)He sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the army of Hazor, and ^(C)into the hand of the Philistines and ^(D)into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them. ^10 (E)They cried out to the Lord and said, ‘We have sinned because we have forsaken the Lord and have served ^(F)the Baals and the Ashtaroth; but ^(G)now deliver us from the hands of our enemies, and we will serve You.’ ¹¹ Then the Lord sent ^(H)Jerubbaal and ^[a](I)Bedan and ^(J)Jephthah and ^(K)Samuel, and delivered you from the hands of your enemies all around, so that you lived in security.
