Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Psalm 98
Praise the King
A psalm.
1 Sing a new song to the Lord,(A)
for He has performed wonders;
His right hand and holy arm
have won Him victory.(B)
2 The Lord has made His victory known;
He has revealed His righteousness
in the sight of the nations.(C)
3 He has remembered His love
and faithfulness to the house of Israel;
all the ends of the earth
have seen our God’s victory.(D)
44 Moses came with Joshua[a] son of Nun and recited all the words of this song in the presence of the people. 45 After Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel, 46 he said to them, “Take to heart all these words I am giving as a warning to you today, so that you may command your children to carefully follow all the words of this law. 47 For they are not meaningless words to you but they are your life, and by them you will live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to possess.”
42 Jesus called them over and said to them, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles dominate(A) them, and their men of high positions exercise power over them. 43 But it must not be like that among you.(B) On the contrary, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(C) 44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be a slave(D) to all. 45 For even the Son of Man(E) did not come to be served, but to serve,(F) and to give His life(G)—a ransom(H) for many.”[a](I)
