Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
25 I will give praise[a] in the great congregation
because of You;(A)
I will fulfill my vows
before those who fear You.[b](B)
26 The humble[c] will eat and be satisfied;(C)
those who seek the Lord will praise Him.
May your hearts live forever!(D)
27 All the ends of the earth will remember
and turn to the Lord.
All the families of the nations
will bow down before You,(E)
28 for kingship belongs to the Lord;
He rules over the nations.(F)
29 All who prosper on earth will eat and bow down;
all those who go down to the dust
will kneel before Him—
even the one who cannot preserve his life.(G)
30 Their descendants will serve Him;
the next generation will be told about the Lord.(H)
31 They will come and tell a people yet to be born
about His righteousness—
what He has done.(I)
Announcement of Judgment
7 Israelites, are you not like the Cushites to Me?(A)
This is the Lord’s declaration.
Didn’t I bring Israel from the land of Egypt,
the Philistines from Caphtor,[a](B)
and the Arameans from Kir?(C)
8 Look, the eyes of the Lord God
are on the sinful kingdom,(D)
and I will destroy it
from the face of the earth.(E)
However, I will not totally destroy
the house of Jacob(F)—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
9 for I am about to give the command,
and I will shake the house of Israel(G)
among all the nations,
as one shakes a sieve,
but not a pebble will fall to the ground.
10 All the sinners among My people(H)
who say: “Disaster will never overtake[b]
or confront us,”(I)
will die by the sword.
Announcement of Restoration
11 In that day
I will restore the fallen booth(J) of David:(K)
I will repair its gaps,
restore its ruins,(L)
and rebuild it as in the days of old,(M)
12 so that they may possess
the remnant of Edom(N)
and all the nations
that are called by My name[c](O)—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
He will do this.
13 Hear this! The days are coming—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
when the plowman will overtake the reaper(P)
and the one who treads grapes,
the sower of seed.
The mountains will drip with sweet wine,
and all the hills will flow with it.(Q)
14 I will restore the fortunes of My people Israel.[d](R)
They will rebuild and occupy ruined cities,(S)
plant vineyards and drink their wine,
make gardens and eat their produce.(T)
15 I will plant them on their land,
and they will never again be uprooted
from the land I have given them.(U)
Yahweh your God has spoken.
The Parable of the Mustard Seed
30 And(A) He said: “How can we illustrate the kingdom of God,(B) or what parable(C) can we use to describe it? 31 It’s like a mustard seed(D) that, when sown in the soil, is smaller than all the seeds on the ground. 32 And when sown,(E) it comes up and grows taller than all the vegetables,(F) and produces large branches, so that the birds of the sky(G) can nest in its shade.”
