¹² And Moses said to the Lord; Thou commandest me to lead forth this people: and thou dost not let me know whom thou wilt send with me, especially whereas thou hast said: I know thee by name, and thou hast found favour in my sight.

¹³ If therefore I have found favour in thy sight, shew me thy face, that I may know thee, and may find grace before thy eyes: look upon thy people this nation.

¹⁴ And the Lord said: My face shall go before thee, and I will give thee rest.

¹⁵ And Moses said: If thou thyself dost not go before, bring us not out of this place.

¹⁶ For how shall we be able to know, I and thy people, that we have found grace in thy sight, unless thou walk with us, that we may be glorified by all people that dwell upon the earth?

¹⁷ And the Lord said to Moses: This word also, which thou hast spoken, will I do: for thou hast found grace before me, and thee I have known by name.

¹⁸ And he said: shew me thy glory.

¹⁹ He answered: I will shew thee all good, and I will proclaim in the name of the Lord before thee: and I will have mercy on whom I will, and I will be merciful to whom it shall please me.

²⁰ And again he said: Thou canst not see my face: for man shall not see me and live.

²¹ And again he said: Behold there is a place with me, and thou shalt stand upon the rock.

²² And when my glory shall pass, I will set thee in a hole of the rock, and protect thee with my right hand, till I pass:

²³ And I will take away my hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face thou canst not see.

99 A psalm of praise.

² Sing joyfully to God, all the earth: serve ye the Lord with gladness. Come in before his presence with exceeding great joy.

³ Know ye that the Lord he is God: he made us, and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture.

⁴ Go ye into his gates with praise, into his courts with hymns: and give glory to him. Praise ye his name:

⁵ For the Lord is sweet, his mercy endureth for ever, and his truth to generation and generation.

² Grace be to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for you all; making a remembrance of you in our prayers without ceasing,

³ Being mindful of the work of your faith, and labour, and charity, and of the enduring of the hope of our Lord Jesus Christ before God and our Father:

⁴ Knowing, brethren beloved of God, your election:

⁵ For our gospel hath not been unto you in word only, but in power also, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much fulness, as you know what manner of men we have been among you for your sakes.

⁶ And you became followers of us, and of the Lord; receiving the word in much tribulation, with joy of the Holy Ghost:

⁷ So that you were made a pattern to all that believe in Macedonia and in Achaia.

⁸ For from you was spread abroad the word of the Lord, not only in Macedonia, and in Achaia, but also in every place, your faith which is towards God, is gone forth, so that we need not to speak any thing.

⁹ For they themselves relate of us, what manner of entering in we had unto you; and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God.

¹⁰ And to wait for his Son from heaven (whom he raised up from the dead,) Jesus, who hath delivered us from the wrath to come.

¹⁵ Then the Pharisees going, consulted among themselves how to insnare him in his speech.

¹⁶ And they sent to him their disciples with the Herodians, saying: Master, we know that thou art a true speaker, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou dost not regard the person of men.

¹⁷ Tell us therefore what dost thou think, is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar, or not?

¹⁸ But Jesus knowing their wickedness, said: Why do you tempt me, ye hypocrites?

¹⁹ Shew me the coin of the tribute. And they offered him a penny.

²⁰ And Jesus saith to them: Whose image and inscription is this?

²¹ They say to him: Caesar's. Then he saith to them: Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's; and to God, the things that are God's.

²² And hearing this they wondered, and leaving him, went their ways.
