⁵⁵ But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looking up steadfastly to heaven, saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God. And he said: Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

⁵⁶ And they crying out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and with one accord ran violently upon him.

⁵⁷ And casting him forth without the city, they stoned him; and the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man, whose name was Saul.

⁵⁸ And they stoned Stephen, invoking, and saying: Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.

⁵⁹ And falling on his knees, he cried with a loud voice, saying: Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep in the Lord. And Saul was consenting to his death.

31 To David himself, understanding. Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

² Blessed is the man to whom the Lord hath not imputed sin, and in whose spirit there is no guile.

³ Because I was silent my bones grew old; whilst I cried out all the day long.

⁴ For day and night thy hand was heavy upon me: I am turned in my anguish, whilst the thorn is fastened.

⁵ I have acknowledged my sin to thee, and my injustice I have not concealed. I said I will confess against myself my injustice to the Lord: and thou hast forgiven the wickedness of my sin.

² As newborn babes, desire the rational milk without guile, that thereby you may grow unto salvation:

³ If so be you have tasted that the Lord is sweet.

⁴ Unto whom coming, as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen and made honourable by God:

⁵ Be you also as living stones built up, a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

⁶ Wherefore it is said in the scripture: Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious. And he that shall believe in him, shall not be confounded.

⁷ To you therefore that believe, he is honour: but to them that believe not, the stone which the builders rejected, the same is made the head of the corner:

⁸ And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of scandal, to them who stumble at the word, neither do believe, whereunto also they are set.

⁹ But you are a chosen generation, a kingly priesthood, a holy nation, a purchased people: that you may declare his virtues, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

¹⁰ Who in time past were not a people: but are now the people of God. Who had not obtained mercy; but now have obtained mercy.

14 Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God, believe also in me.

² In my Father's house there are many mansions. If not, I would have told you: because I go to prepare a place for you.

³ And if I shall go, and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and will take you to myself; that where I am, you also may be.

⁴ And whither I go you know, and the way you know.

⁵ Thomas saith to him: Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

⁶ Jesus saith to him: I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me.

⁷ If you had known me, you would without doubt have known my Father also: and from henceforth you shall know him, and you have seen him.

⁸ Philip saith to him: Lord, shew us the Father, and it is enough for us.

⁹ Jesus saith to him: Have I been so long a time with you; and have you not known me? Philip, he that seeth me seeth the Father also. How sayest thou, shew us the Father?

¹⁰ Do you not believe, that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? The words that I speak to you, I speak not of myself. But the Father who abideth in me, he doth the works.

¹¹ Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me?

¹² Otherwise believe for the very works' sake. Amen, amen I say to you, he that believeth in me, the works that I do, he also shall do; and greater than these shall he do.

¹³ Because I go to the Father: and whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, that will I do: that the Father may be glorified in the Son.

¹⁴ If you shall ask me any thing in my name, that I will do.
