Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
91 1 Here is described in what assurance he liveth, that putteth his whole trust in God, and commiteth himself wholly to his protection in all temptations. 14 A promise of God to those that love him, know him, and trust in him to deliver them, and give them immortal glory.
1 Who so dwelleth in the [a]secret of the most High, shall abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 [b]I will say unto the Lord, O my hope, and my fortress: he is my God, in him will I trust.
3 Surely I will deliver thee from the [c]snare of the hunter, and from the noisome pestilence.
4 He will cover thee under his wings, and thou shalt be sure under his feathers: his [d]truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
5 [e]Thou shalt not be afraid of the fear of the night: nor of the arrow that flieth by day:
6 Nor of the pestilence that walketh in the darkness: nor of the plague that destroyeth at noon day.
9 Mine heart breaketh within me, because of the [a]prophets, all my bones shake: I am like a drunken man (and like a man whom wine hath [b]overcome) for the presence of the Lord and for his holy words.
10 For the land is full of adulterers, and because of oaths the land mourneth, the pleasant places of the wilderness are dried up, and their [c]course is evil, and their force is not right.
11 For both the Prophet and the Priest [d]do wickedly: and their wickedness have I found in mine [e]House, saith the Lord.
12 Wherefore their way shall be unto them as slippery ways in the darkness: they shall be driven forth and fall therein: for I will bring a plague upon them, even the year of their visitation, saith the Lord.
13 And I have seen foolishness in the prophets of Samaria that prophesied in Baal, and caused my people Israel to err.
14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem [f]filthiness: they commit adultery and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of the wicked, that none can return from his wickedness: they are all [g]unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.
15 Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets, Behold, I will feed them with [h]wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is [i]wickedness gone forth into all the land.
16 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Hear not the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you, and teach you vanity: they speak the vision of their own [j]heart, and not out of the mouth of the Lord.
17 They say still unto them that despise me, The Lord hath said, Ye [k]shall have peace: and they say unto everyone that walketh after the stubbornness of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.
18 For [l]who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord that he hath perceived, and heard his word? Who hath marked his word and heard it?
19 Behold, the tempest of the Lord goeth forth in his wrath, and a violent whirlwind shall fall down upon the head of the wicked.
20 The anger of the Lord shall not return until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye [m]shall understand it plainly.
21 (A)I have not sent these prophets, saith the Lord, yet they ran; I have not spoken to them, and yet they prophesied.
22 But if they had stood in my counsel, and [n]had declared my words to my people, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the wickedness of their inventions.
8 [a]This say I not by commandment, but because of the [b]diligence of others: therefore prove I the [c]naturalness of your love.
9 [d]For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that he being rich, for your sakes became poor, that ye through his poverty might be made rich.
10 [e]And I show my mind herein: for this is expedient for you, which have begun not to do only, but also to [f]will, a year ago.
11 Now therefore perform to do it also, that as there was a readiness to will, even so ye may perform it of that which ye have.
12 [g]For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not.
13 [h]Neither is it that other men should be eased and you grieved: But upon [i]like condition, at this time your abundance supplieth their lack:
14 That also their abundance may be for your lack, that there may be equality.
15 As it is written, (A)He that gathered much, had nothing over, and he that gathered little, had not the less.
