Psalm 106:40-48

40 Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.

41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen: and they that hated them were lords over them.

42 Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were humbled under their hand.

43 Many [a]a time did he deliver them, but they provoked him by their counsels: therefore they were brought down by their iniquity.

44 Yet he saw when they were in affliction, and he heard their cry.

45 And he remembered his covenant toward them, and [b]repented according to the multitude of his mercies,

46 And gave them favor in the sight of all them that led them captives.

47 Save us, O Lord our God, and [c]gather us from among the heathen, that we may praise thine holy Name, and glory in thy praise.

48 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel forever and ever, and let all the people say, So be it. Praise ye the Lord.

Jeremiah 10:17-25

17 [a]Gather up thy wares out of the land, O thou that dwellest in the strong place.

18 For thus saith the Lord, Behold, at this time I will throw as with a sling the inhabitants of the land, and will trouble them, and they shall find it so.

19 Woe is me for my destruction, and my grievous plague: but I thought, Yet it [b]is my sorrow, and I will bear it.

20 [c]My Tabernacle is destroyed, and all my cords are broken: my children are gone from me, and are not: there is none to spread out my tent anymore, and to set up my curtains.

21 For the Pastors [d]are become beasts, and have not sought the Lord: therefore have they none understanding: and all the flocks of their pastures are scattered.

22 Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the [e]North country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.

23 O Lord, I know that [f]the way of man is not in himself, neither is it in man to walk and to direct his steps.

24 O Lord, correct me, but with [g]judgment, not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.

25 Pour out [h]thy wrath upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy Name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his habitation desolate.

Luke 20:45-21:4

45 ¶ Then in the audience of all the people he said unto his disciples,

46 (A)[a]Beware of the Scribes, which willingly go in long robes, and love salutations in the markets, and the highest seats in the assemblies, and the chief rooms at feasts:

47 Which devour widow’s [b]houses, and in show make long prayers: These shall receive greater damnation.

21 1 The widow’s liberality above her riches. 5 Of the time of the destruction of the Temple, 19 and Jerusalem. 25 The signs going before the last judgment.

And (B)[c]as he beheld, he saw the rich men which cast their gifts into the treasury.

And he saw also a certain poor widow which cast in thither two mites:

And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all.

For they all have of their superfluity cast into the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.
