Version
Psalm 60

Lament over Defeat in Battle, and Prayer for Help.

For the choir director; according to [a]Shushan Eduth. A [b]Mikhtam of David, to teach; [c]when he struggled with Aram-naharaim and with Aram-zobah, and Joab returned, and smote twelve thousand of Edom in the Valley of Salt.

60 O God, (A)You have rejected us. You have [d](B)broken us;
You have been (C)angry; O, (D)restore us.
You have made the [e](E)land quake, You have split it open;
(F)Heal its breaches, for it totters.
You have [f](G)made Your people experience hardship;
You have given us [g]wine to (H)drink that makes us stagger.
You have given a (I)banner to those who fear You,
That it may be displayed because of the truth. [h]Selah.
(J)That Your (K)beloved may be delivered,
(L)Save with Your right hand, and answer [i]us!

God has spoken in His [j](M)holiness:
“I will exult, I will portion out (N)Shechem and measure out the valley of (O)Succoth.
(P)Gilead is Mine, and Manasseh is Mine;
(Q)Ephraim also is the [k]helmet of My head;
Judah is My [l](R)scepter.
(S)Moab is My washbowl;
Over (T)Edom I shall throw My shoe;
Shout loud, O (U)Philistia, because of Me!”

Who will bring me into the besieged city?
Who [m]will lead me to Edom?
10 Have not You Yourself, O God, (V)rejected us?
And (W)will You not go forth with our armies, O God?
11 O give us help against the adversary,
For (X)deliverance [n]by man is in vain.
12 [o]Through God we shall (Y)do valiantly,
And it is He who will (Z)tread down our adversaries.

Hosea 14

Israel’s Future Blessing

14 [a](A)Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God,
For you have stumbled [b]because of your (B)iniquity.
Take words with you and return to the Lord.
Say to Him, “(C)Take away all iniquity
And [c]receive us graciously,
That we may (D)present [d]the fruit of our lips.
“Assyria will not save us,
We will (E)not ride on horses;
Nor will we say again, ‘(F)Our god,’
To the (G)work of our hands;
For in (H)You the [e]orphan finds mercy.”

I will (I)heal their apostasy,
I will (J)love them freely,
For My anger has (K)turned away from them.
I will be like the (L)dew to Israel;
He will blossom like the (M)lily,
And he will [f]take root like the cedars of (N)Lebanon.
His shoots will [g]sprout,
And his [h]beauty will be like the (O)olive tree
And his fragrance like the cedars of (P)Lebanon.
Those who (Q)live in his shadow
Will [i]again raise (R)grain,
And they will blossom like the vine.
His renown will be like the wine of Lebanon.

O Ephraim, what more have I to do with (S)idols?
It is I who answer and look after [j]you.
I am like a luxuriant (T)cypress;
From (U)Me comes your fruit.

(V)Whoever is wise, let him understand these things;
Whoever is discerning, let him know them.
For the (W)ways of the Lord are right,
And the (X)righteous will walk in them,
But (Y)transgressors will stumble in them.

Luke 12:22-31

22 And He said to His disciples, (A)For this reason I say to you, [a]do not worry about your [b]life, as to what you will eat; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. 23 For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. 24 Consider the (B)ravens, for they neither sow nor reap; they have no storeroom nor (C)barn, and yet God feeds them; how much more valuable you are than the birds! 25 And which of you by worrying can add a single [c](D)hour to his [d]life’s span? 26 If then you cannot do even a very little thing, why do you worry about other matters? 27 Consider the lilies, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; but I tell you, not even (E)Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. 28 But if God so clothes the grass in the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, how much more will He clothe you? (F)You men of little faith! 29 And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not (G)keep worrying. 30 For [e]all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. 31 But seek His kingdom, and (H)these things will be added to you.
