⁴⁶ Then Mary said, My soul magnifies the Lord,

⁴⁷ and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saving Health,

⁴⁸ for he has regarded the low estate of his handmaiden; for, behold, from now on all generations shall call me blessed.

⁴⁹ For he that is mighty has done great things unto me, and holy is his name.

⁵⁰ And his mercy is on those that fear him from generation to generation.

⁵¹ He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

⁵² He has put down the mighty from their thrones and exalted the humble.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.

⁵⁴ He has received his servant Israel in remembrance of his mercy

⁵⁵ as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed forever.

⁶ ¶ With what shall I present myself before the LORD, and how shall I worship the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old?

⁷ Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my rebellion, the fruit of my bowels for the sin of my soul?

⁸ He has declared unto thee, O man, what is good and what the LORD requires of thee: only to do right judgment, and to love mercy, and to humble thyself to walk with thy God.

⁵ Therefore when he came into the world, he said, Sacrifice and offering thou dost not desire, but a body hast thou prepared me;

⁶ in burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

⁷ ¶ Then said I, Behold, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me) to do thy will, O God.

⁸ Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou dost not desire, neither hadst pleasure therein, which are offered by the law;

⁹ then he said, Behold, I come to do thy will, O God. He took away the first, that he may establish the second.

¹⁰ In this will, we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus, the Christ, once for all.
