Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
68 Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for he has visited and made redemption for his people
69 And has raised up a horn of saving health for us in the house of his servant David,
70 as he spoke by the mouth of the saints who from the beginning were his prophets;
71 salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all that hate us;
72 to fulfill mercy unto our fathers and remembering his holy covenant
73 of the oath which he made to our father Abraham,
74 that he would grant unto us, that without fear delivered out of the hand of our enemies, we might serve him
75 in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
76 And thou, child, shalt be called prophet of the Most High, for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways,
77 giving knowledge of saving health unto his people for the remission of their sins
78 through the bowels of mercy of our God, whereby the dayspring from on high has visited us
79 to give light to those that dwell in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace.
4 ¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.
2 But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings he shall bring saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.
3 And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, said the LORD of the hosts.
4 ¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.
5 Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD:
6 and he shall convert the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with destruction.
9 ¶ Then he called his twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all the demons and to cure diseases.
2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick.
3 And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey: neither staves nor provision bag, neither bread, neither money, neither have two coats apiece.
4 And whatever house ye enter into, abide there and depart from there.
5 And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.
6 And they departed and went through the towns, preaching the gospel and healing every where.
