² Behold, God is my saviour, I will deal confidently, and will not fear: O because the Lord is my strength, and my praise, and he is become my salvation.

³ You shall draw waters with joy out of the saviour's fountains:

⁴ And you shall say in that day: Praise ye the Lord, and call upon his name: make his works known among the people: remember that his name is high.

⁵ Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath done great things: shew this forth in all the earth.

⁶ Rejoice, and praise, O thou habitation of Sion: for great is he that is in the midst of thee, the Holy One of Israel.

⁸ Behold the eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth: but yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the Lord.

⁹ For behold I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, as corn is sifted in a sieve: and there shall not a little stone fall to the ground.

¹⁰ All the sinners of my people shall fall by the sword: who say: The evils shall not approach, and shall not come upon us.

¹¹ In that day I will raise up the tabernacle of David, that is fallen: and I will close up the breaches of the walls thereof, and repair what was fallen: and I will rebuild it as in the days of old.

¹² That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and all nations, because my name is invoked upon them: saith the Lord that doth these things.

¹³ Behold the days come, saith the Lord, when the ploughman shall overtake the reaper, and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed: and the mountains shall drop sweetness, and every hill shall be tilled.

¹⁴ And I will bring back the captivity of my people Israel: and they shall build the abandoned cities, and inhabit them: and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine of them: and shall make gardens, and eat the fruits of them. And I will plant them upon their own land: and I will no more pluck them out of their land which I have given them, saith the Lord thy God.

⁵⁷ Now Elizabeth's full time of being delivered was come, and she brought forth a son.

⁵⁸ And her neighbours and kinsfolks heard that the Lord had shewed his great mercy towards her, and they congratulated with her.

⁵⁹ And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they called him by his father's name Zachary.

⁶⁰ And his mother answering, said: Not so; but he shall be called John.

⁶¹ And they said to her: There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

⁶² And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.

⁶³ And demanding a writing table, he wrote, saying: John is his name. And they all wondered.

⁶⁴ And immediately his mouth was opened, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, blessing God.

⁶⁵ And fear came upon all their neighbours; and all these things were noised abroad over all the hill country of Judea.

⁶⁶ And all they that had heard them laid them up in their heart, saying: What an one, think ye, shall this child be? For the hand of the Lord was with him.
