Psalm 101

101 1 David describeth what government he will observe in his house and kingdom. 5 He will punish and correct, by rooting forth the wicked, 6 and cherishing the godly persons.

A Psalm of David.

I will [a]sing mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

I will do wisely in the perfect way, [b]till thou comest to me, I will walk in the uprightness of mine heart in the midst of my house.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate [c]the work of them that fall away: it shall not cleave unto me.

A froward heart shall depart from me; I will know none evil.

Him that privily [d]slandereth his neighbor, will I destroy: him that hath a proud look and high heart, I cannot suffer.

Mine eyes shall be unto the [e]faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

There shall no deceitful person dwell within my house: he that telleth lies, shall not remain in my sight.

[f]Betimes will I destroy all the wicked of the land that I may cut off all the workers of iniquity from the City of the Lord.

1 Kings 8:1-21

4 The Ark is borne into the Temple. 10 A cloud filleth the Temple. 14 The king blesseth the people.

Then King Solomon assembled (A)the Elders of Israel, even all the heads of the tribes, the chief fathers of the children of Israel unto [a]him in Jerusalem, for to [b]bring up the Ark of the covenant of the Lord from the city of David, which is Zion.

And all the men of Israel assembled unto King Solomon at the feast in the month of [c]Ethanim, which is the seventh month.

And all the Elders of Israel came, and the Priests took the Ark.

They bare the Ark of the Lord, and they bare the Tabernacle of the Congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the Tabernacle: those did the Priests and Levites bring up.

And King Solomon and all the Congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him, were with him before the Ark, offering sheep and beeves, which could not be told, nor numbered for multitude.

So the [d]Priests brought the Ark of the Covenant of the Lord unto his place, into the oracle of the house into the most holy place, even under the wings of the Cherubims.

For the Cherubims stretched out their wings over the place of the Ark, and the Cherubims covered the Ark, and the bars thereof above.

And they [e]drew out the bars, that the ends of the bars might appear out of the Sanctuary before the oracle, but they were not seen without: and there they are unto this day.

Nothing was in the Ark [f]save the two tables of stone which Moses had put there at Horeb, where the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

10 And when the Priests were come out of the Sanctuary, the (B)cloud filled the house of the Lord,

11 So that the Priests could not stand to minister, because of the cloud: for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord.

12 Then spake Solomon, The Lord (C)said, that he would dwell in the dark cloud.

13 I have built thee an house to dwell in, an habitation for thee to abide in for [g]ever.

14 ¶ And the King turned his face and blessed all the Congregation of Israel: for all the Congregation of Israel stood there.

15 And he said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, who spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it, saying,

16 Since the day that I brought my people Israel out of Egypt, I chose no city of all the tribes of Israel, to build an house that my Name might be there: but I have chosen (D)David to be over my people Israel.

17 And it was in the heart of David my father, to build an house to the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

18 And the Lord said unto David my father, Whereas it was in thine heart to build an house unto my Name, thou didst well, that thou wast so minded:

19 Nevertheless thou shalt not build the house, but thy son that shall come out of thy loins, he shall build the house unto my Name.

20 And the Lord hath [h]made good his word that he spake: and I am risen up in the room of David my father, and sit on the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised, and have built the house for the Name of the Lord God of Israel.

21 And I have prepared therein a place for the Ark, wherein is the [i]covenant of the Lord which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.

Mark 8:14-21

14 (A)And they had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them, but one loaf.

15 [a]And he charged them, saying, Take heed, and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

16 [b]And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is, because we have no bread.

17 And when Jesus knew it, he said unto them, Why reason you thus, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your hearts yet hardened?

18 Have ye eyes, and see not? and have ye ears, and hear not? and do ye not remember?

19 (B)When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of broken meat took ye up? They said unto him, Twelve.

20 And when I brake seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of the leavings of broken meat took ye up? And they said, Seven.

21 Then he said unto them, [c]How is it that ye understand not?
