Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
CHETH
57 O Lord, that art my [a]portion, I have determined to keep thy words.
58 I made my supplication in thy presence with my whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy promise.
59 I have considered my [b]ways, and turned my feet into thy testimonies.
60 I made haste and delayed not to keep thy commandments.
61 The bands of the wicked have [c]robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy Law.
62 At midnight will I rise to give thanks unto thee, because of thy righteous judgments.
63 I am [d]companion of all them that fear thee, and keep thy precepts.
64 The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: [e]teach me thy statutes.
11 A word spoken in his place, is like apples of gold with pictures of silver.
12 He that reproveth the wise and the obedient ear, is as a golden earring, and an ornament of fine gold.
13 As the cold of the snow [a]in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.
14 A man that boasteth of false liberality, is like [b]clouds and wind without rain.
15 A Prince is pacified by staying of [c]anger, and a soft tongue breaketh the [d]bones.
16 If thou have found honey, eat that is [e]sufficient for thee, lest thou be overfull, and vomit it.
17 Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbor’s house, lest he be weary of thee, and hate thee.
18 A man that beareth false witness against his neighbor, is like an hammer and a sword, and a sharp arrow.
19 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble, is like a broken tooth and a sliding foot.
20 He that taketh away the garment in the cold season, is like vinegar poured upon [f][g]nitre, or like him that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
21 (A)If he that hateth thee be hungry, give him bread to eat, and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:
22 For thou shalt lay [h]coals upon his head, and the Lord shall recompense thee.
9 [a]Let love be without dissimulation. (A)Abhor that which is evil, and cleave unto that which is good.
10 (B)Be affectioned to love one another with brotherly love. In giving honor, go one before another.
11 Not slothful to do service, fervent in spirit [b]serving the Lord,
12 [c]Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, (C)continuing in prayer.
13 (D)[d]Distributing unto the [e]necessities of the Saints: (E)giving yourselves to hospitality.
14 (F)Bless them which persecute you: bless, I say, and curse not.
15 Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 Be like affectioned one towards another: (G)be not high-minded: but make yourselves equal to them of the [f]lower sort: be not [g]wise in yourselves.
17 (H)Recompense to no man evil for evil: procure things honest in the sight of all men.
18 (I)If it be possible, as much as in you is, have peace with all men.
19 Dearly beloved, (J)avenge not yourselves, but give place unto wrath: for it is written, (K)Vengeance is mine: I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 (L)Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him: if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap [h]coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with goodness.
