Psalm 17:1-7

Prayer for Vindication and Protection

A prayer of David.[a]

17 O Yahweh, hear a just cause.
Hear my cry; heed my prayer
I make without deceitful lips.
Let my vindication come forth from you;
let your eyes see fairness.
You have tried my heart;
you have examined me by night;
you have tested me; you found nothing.
I have decided that my mouth will not transgress.
As for the works of humankind,
by the word of your lips,
I have kept from the ways of the violent.
I have held my steps in your path
My feet will not slip.
As for me, I have called on you
because you will answer me, O God.
Incline your ear to me.
Hear my words.[b]
Show wondrously your acts of loyal love,
O Savior of those who take refuge
at your right hand[c]
from those who rise up against them.

Psalm 17:15

15 By contrast, I in righteousness shall see your face.
Upon awakening I will be satisfied seeing your form.

Isaiah 14:1-2

The Restoration of Israel

14 But Yahweh will have compassion on Jacob,
    and he will again choose Israel
and set them on their land,
and the immigrant will join himself to them,
    and they will attach themselves to the house of Jacob.
And the nations will take them
    and bring them to their place,
and the house of Israel will take possession of them[a] in the land of Yahweh
    as slaves and female slaves.

And this will happen:

they will take their captors captive
    and rule over their oppressors.

Philippians 4:10-15

Support for Paul’s Ministry

10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last you have renewed your concern for me[a], for whom also you were thinking, but you had no opportunity to express it. 11 Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how both to make do with little[b] and I know how to have an abundance[c]. In everything and in all things I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to have an abundance[d] and to go without. 13 I am able to do all things by the one who strengthens me. 14 Nevertheless you have done well by sharing[e] with me in my affliction. 15 Now you also know, Philippians, that at the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone,
