Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
12 How can I repay the Lord
for all the good he has done for me?(A)
13 I will take the cup of salvation
and call on the name of the Lord.(B)
14 I will fulfill my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people.(C)
6 On this mountain,[a](A)
the Lord of Armies will prepare for all the peoples a feast of choice meat,(B)
a feast with aged wine, prime cuts of choice meat,[b] fine vintage wine.
7 On this mountain
he will swallow up the burial shroud,
the shroud over all the peoples,
the sheet covering all the nations.(C)
8 When he has swallowed up death once and for all,(D)
the Lord God will wipe away the tears
from every face(E)
and remove his people’s disgrace(F)
from the whole earth,
for the Lord has spoken.
9 On that day it will be said,
“Look, this is our God;
we have waited for him, and he has saved us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him.
Let’s rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”(G)
12 He also said to the one who had invited him, “When you give a lunch or a dinner, don’t invite your friends, your brothers or sisters, your relatives, or your rich neighbors, because they might invite you back, and you would be repaid. 13 On the contrary, when you host a banquet,(A) invite those who are poor, maimed, lame, or blind.(B) 14 And you will be blessed, because they cannot repay you; for you will be repaid(C) at the resurrection of the righteous.”(D)
