⁵⁵ But being full of the Holy Spirit, he gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, ⁵⁶ and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”

⁵⁷ Then they cried out with a loud voice, closed their ears, and rushed at him in unison. ⁵⁸ And they threw him out of the city and stoned him. The witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul.

⁵⁹ They stoned Stephen as he was calling on God, praying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” ⁶⁰ Then he knelt down and cried with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Having said this, he fell asleep.

Psalm 31^(A)

For the Music Director. A Psalm of David.

² As newborn babies, desire the pure milk of the word, that by it you may grow, ³ if it is true that you have experienced that the Lord is good.

⁴ Coming to Him as to a living stone who is rejected by men, but chosen by God and precious, ⁵ you also, as living stones, are being built up into a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. ⁶ For also it is contained in the Scripture,

⁷ Therefore, to you who believe, He is precious. But to those who are disobedient,

⁸ and,

They stumble because they are disobedient to the word, to which also they were appointed.

⁹ But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may declare the goodness of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light. ¹⁰ In times past, you were not a people, but now you are the people of God. You had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

Jesus the Way to the Father

14 “Let not your heart be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me. ² In My Father’s house are many dwelling places. If it were not so, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. ³ And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, you may be also. ⁴ You know where I am going, and you know the way.”

⁵ Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way?”

⁶ Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. ⁷ If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”

⁸ Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that is sufficient for us.”

⁹ Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you such a long time, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father. So how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own authority. But the Father who lives in Me does the works. ¹¹ Believe Me that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me. Or else believe Me on account of the works themselves. ¹² Truly, truly I say to you, he who believes in Me will do the works that I do also. And he will do greater works than these, because I am going to My Father. ¹³ I will do whatever you ask in My name, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
