Version
Genesis 45:3-11

He said to his brothers, “I am Joseph. Is my father still alive?” But the brothers could not answer him, because they were very afraid of him.

So Joseph said to them, “Come close to me.” When the brothers came close to him, he said to them, “I am your brother Joseph, whom you sold as a slave to go to Egypt. Now don’t be worried or angry with yourselves because you sold me here. God sent me here ahead of you to save people’s lives. No food has grown on the land for two years now, and there will be five more years without planting or harvest. So God sent me here ahead of you to make sure you have some descendants left on earth and to keep you alive in an amazing way. So it was not you who sent me here, but God. God has made me the highest officer of the king of Egypt. I am in charge of his palace, and I am the master of all the land of Egypt.

“So leave quickly and go to my father. Tell him, ‘Your son Joseph says: God has made me master over all Egypt. Come down to me quickly. 10 Live in the land of Goshen where you will be near me. Your children, your grandchildren, your flocks and herds, and all that you have will also be near me. 11 I will care for you during the next five years of hunger so that you and your family and all that you have will not starve.’

Genesis 45:15

15 And Joseph kissed all his brothers and cried as he hugged them. After this, his brothers talked with him.

Psalm 37:1-11

God Will Reward Fairly

Of David.

37 Don’t be upset because of evil people.
    Don’t be jealous of those who do wrong,
because like the grass, they will soon dry up.
    Like green plants, they will soon die away.

Trust the Lord and do good.
    Live in the land and feed on truth.
Enjoy serving the Lord,
    and he will give you what you want.
Depend on the Lord;
    trust him, and he will take care of you.
Then your goodness will shine like the sun,
    and your fairness like the noonday sun.

Wait and trust the Lord.
    Don’t be upset when others get rich
    or when someone else’s plans succeed.
Don’t get angry.
    Don’t be upset; it only leads to trouble.
Evil people will be sent away,
    but those who trust the Lord will inherit the land.
10 In a little while the wicked will be no more.
    You may look for them, but they will be gone.
11 People who are not proud will inherit the land
    and will enjoy complete peace.

Psalm 37:39-40

39 The Lord saves good people;
    he is their strength in times of trouble.
40 The Lord helps them and saves them;
    he saves them from the wicked,
    because they trust in him for protection.

1 Corinthians 15:35-38

What Kind of Body Will We Have?

35 But someone may ask, “How are the dead raised? What kind of body will they have?” 36 Foolish person! When you sow a seed, it must die in the ground before it can live and grow. 37 And when you sow it, it does not have the same “body” it will have later. What you sow is only a bare seed, maybe wheat or something else. 38 But God gives it a body that he has planned for it, and God gives each kind of seed its own body.

1 Corinthians 15:42-50

42 It is the same with the dead who are raised to life. The body that is “planted” will ruin and decay, but it is raised to a life that cannot be destroyed. 43 When the body is “planted,” it is without honor, but it is raised in glory. When the body is “planted,” it is weak, but when it is raised, it is powerful. 44 The body that is “planted” is a physical body. When it is raised, it is a spiritual body.

There is a physical body, and there is also a spiritual body. 45 It is written in the Scriptures: “The first man, Adam, became a living person.”[a] But the last Adam became a spirit that gives life. 46 The spiritual did not come first, but the physical and then the spiritual. 47 The first man came from the dust of the earth. The second man came from heaven. 48 People who belong to the earth are like the first man of earth. But those people who belong to heaven are like the man of heaven. 49 Just as we were made like the man of earth, so we will[b] also be made like the man of heaven.

50 I tell you this, brothers and sisters: Flesh and blood cannot have a part in the kingdom of God. Something that will ruin cannot have a part in something that never ruins.

Luke 6:27-38

Love Your Enemies

27 “But I say to you who are listening, love your enemies. Do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who are cruel to you. 29 If anyone slaps you on one cheek, offer him the other cheek, too. If someone takes your coat, do not stop him from taking your shirt. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and when someone takes something that is yours, don’t ask for it back. 31 Do to others what you would want them to do to you. 32 If you love only the people who love you, what praise should you get? Even sinners love the people who love them. 33 If you do good only to those who do good to you, what praise should you get? Even sinners do that! 34 If you lend things to people, always hoping to get something back, what praise should you get? Even sinners lend to other sinners so that they can get back the same amount! 35 But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without hoping to get anything back. Then you will have a great reward, and you will be children of the Most High God, because he is kind even to people who are ungrateful and full of sin. 36 Show mercy, just as your Father shows mercy.

Look at Yourselves

37 “Don’t judge others, and you will not be judged. Don’t accuse others of being guilty, and you will not be accused of being guilty. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. 38 Give, and you will receive. You will be given much. Pressed down, shaken together, and running over, it will spill into your lap. The way you give to others is the way God will give to you.”
