Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)

⁴⁶ And Mary said, My soul does magnify the Lord, ⁴⁷ and my spirit rejoices in God my saviour. ⁴⁸ For he has looked on the poor degree of his handmaiden. Behold, now from henceforth all generations will call me blessed. ⁴⁹ For he who is mighty has done great things unto me, and holy is his name. ⁵⁰ And his mercy is on them who fear him, throughout all generations. ⁵¹ He shows strength with his arm. He scatters those who are proud in the imagination of their hearts. ⁵² He puts down the mighty from their seats and exalts those of low degree. ⁵³ He fills the hungry with good things and sends the rich away empty. ⁵⁴ He remembers mercy and helps his servant Israel, ⁵⁵ even as he promised to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed forever.

⁵ Therefore when he comes into the world he says: Sacrifice and offering you would not have, but a body you have made ready for me. ⁶ In sacrifices and sin-offerings you have no pleasure. ⁷ Then I said, Lo, I come! In the chief part of the book it is written of me, that I will do your will, O God.

⁸ Above – when he said sacrifice and offering, and burnt sacrifices and sin-offerings you would not have, neither have accepted (which yet are offered according to the law), ⁹ and then said, Lo, I come to do your will, O God – he takes away the first in order to establish the latter. ¹⁰ In accordance with this God’s will, we are sanctified by the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all.
