Version
Isaiah 53:4-12

Surely our [a]griefs He Himself (A)bore,
And our [b]sorrows He carried;
Yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken,
[c]Smitten of (B)God, and afflicted.
But He was [d]pierced through for (C)our transgressions,
He was crushed for (D)our iniquities;
The (E)chastening for our [e]well-being fell upon Him,
And by (F)His scourging we are healed.
All of us like sheep have gone astray,
Each of us has turned to his own way;
But the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all
To [f]fall on Him.

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,
Yet He did not (G)open His mouth;
(H)Like a lamb that is led to slaughter,
And like a sheep that is silent before its shearers,
So He did not open His mouth.
By oppression and judgment He was taken away;
And as for His generation, who considered
That He was cut off out of the land of the [g]living
(I)For the transgression of my people, to whom the stroke was due?
His grave was assigned with wicked men,
Yet He was with a (J)rich man in His death,
(K)Because He had (L)done no violence,
Nor was there any deceit in His mouth.

10 But the Lord was pleased
To (M)crush Him, [h](N)putting Him to grief;
If [i]He would render Himself as a guilt (O)offering,
He will see (P)His [j]offspring,
He will prolong His days,
And the [k]good (Q)pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand.
11 As a result of the [l]anguish of His soul,
He will (R)see [m]it and be satisfied;
By His (S)knowledge the Righteous One,
My Servant, will justify the many,
As He will (T)bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore, I will allot Him a (U)portion with the great,
And He will divide the booty with the strong;
Because He poured out [n](V)Himself to death,
And was (W)numbered with the transgressors;
Yet He Himself (X)bore the sin of many,
And interceded for the transgressors.

Psalm 91:9-16

[a]For you have made the Lord, (A)my refuge,
Even the Most High, (B)your dwelling place.
10 (C)No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your [b]tent.

11 For He will give (D)His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12 They will (E)bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will (F)tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the [c]serpent you will trample down.

14 (G)Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will (H)set him securely on high, because he has (I)known My name.
15 “He will (J)call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in [d]trouble;
I will rescue him and (K)honor him.
16 “With [e]a (L)long life I will satisfy him
And [f](M)let him see My salvation.”

Hebrews 5:1-10

The Perfect High Priest

For every high priest (A)taken from among men is appointed on behalf of men in (B)things pertaining to God, in order to (C)offer both gifts and sacrifices (D)for sins; [a](E)he can deal gently with the (F)ignorant and (G)misguided, since he himself also is [b](H)beset with weakness; and because of it he is obligated to offer sacrifices (I)for sins, (J)as for the people, so also for himself. And (K)no one takes the honor to himself, but receives it when he is called by God, even (L)as Aaron was.

So also Christ (M)did not glorify Himself so as to become a (N)high priest, but He who (O)said to Him,

(P)You are My Son,
Today I have begotten You”;

just as He says also in another passage,

(Q)You are a priest forever
According to (R)the order of Melchizedek.”

[c]In the days of His flesh, [d](S)He offered up both prayers and supplications with (T)loud crying and tears to the One (U)able to save Him [e]from death, and He [f]was heard because of His (V)piety. Although He was (W)a Son, He learned (X)obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made (Y)perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, 10 being designated by God as (Z)a high priest according to (AA)the order of Melchizedek.

Mark 10:35-45

35 [a](A)James and John, the two sons of Zebedee, *came up to Jesus, saying, “Teacher, we want You to do for us whatever we ask of You.” 36 And He said to them, “What do you want Me to do for you?” 37 They said to Him, “[b]Grant that we (B)may sit, one on Your right and one on Your left, in Your glory.” 38 But Jesus said to them, “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able (C)to drink the cup that I drink, or (D)to be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized?” 39 They said to Him, “We are able.” And Jesus said to them, “The cup that I drink (E)you shall drink; and you shall be baptized with the baptism with which I am baptized. 40 But to sit on My right or on My left, this is not Mine to give; (F)but it is for those for whom it has been prepared.”

41 (G)Hearing this, the ten began to feel indignant with [c]James and John. 42 Calling them to Himself, Jesus *said to them, “You know that those who are recognized as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them; and their great men exercise authority over them. 43 But it is not this way among you, (H)but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant; 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man (I)did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His [d]life a ransom for many.”
