Psalm 92:1-4

Praise to the Lord for His Love and Faithfulness

A Psalm. A Song for the Sabbath day.

92 It is (A)good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High;
To (B)declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night,
(C)On an instrument of ten strings,
On the lute,
And on the harp,
With harmonious sound.
For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

Psalm 92:12-15

12 (A)The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be [a]fresh and [b]flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
(B)He is my rock, and (C)there is no unrighteousness in Him.

1 Kings 10:26-11:8

26 (A)And Solomon (B)gathered chariots and horsemen; he had one thousand four hundred chariots and twelve thousand horsemen, whom he [a]stationed in the chariot cities and with the king at Jerusalem. 27 (C)The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedar trees as abundant as the sycamores which are in the lowland.

28 (D)Also Solomon had horses imported from Egypt and Keveh; the king’s merchants bought them in Keveh at the current price. 29 Now a chariot that was imported from Egypt cost six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse one hundred and fifty; (E)and [b]thus, through their agents, they exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Syria.

Solomon’s Heart Turns from the Lord

11 But (F)King Solomon loved (G)many foreign women, as well as the daughter of Pharaoh: women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites— from the nations of whom the Lord had said to the children of Israel, (H)“You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” Solomon clung to these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart. For it was so, when Solomon was old, (I)that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his (J)heart was not [c]loyal to the Lord his God, (K)as was the heart of his father David. For Solomon went after (L)Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after (M)Milcom[d] the abomination of the (N)Ammonites. Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David. (O)Then Solomon built a [e]high place for (P)Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on (Q)the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

Hebrews 11:4-7

Faith at the Dawn of History(A)

By faith (B)Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still (C)speaks.

By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, (D)“and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

By faith (E)Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, (F)prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of (G)the righteousness which is according to faith.
