Psalm 66:1-9

66 1 He provoketh all men to praise the Lord and to consider his works. 6 He setteth forth the power of God to affray the rebels. 10 And showeth how God hath delivered Israel from great bondage and afflictions. 13 He promiseth to give sacrifice, 16 And provoketh all men to hear what God hath done for him, and to praise his Name.

To him that excelleth. A song or Psalm.

Rejoice in God, [a]all ye inhabitants of the earth.

Sing forth the glory of his Name: make his praise glorious.

Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies be [b]in subjection unto thee.

All the world shall worship thee, and sing unto thee, even sing of thy Name. Selah.

[c]Come and behold the works of God: he is terrible in his doings toward [d]the sons of men.

He hath turned the sea into dry land: they passed through the river on foot: there did we rejoice in him.

He ruleth the world with his power: his eyes behold the nations: the rebellious shall not [e]exalt themselves. Selah.

Praise our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard.

Which [f]holdeth our souls in life, and suffereth not our feet to slip.

2 Kings 21:1-15

21 3 King Manasseh restoreth idolatry, 16 And useth great cruelty. 18 He dieth and Amon his son succeedeth, 23 Who is killed of his own servants. 26 After him reigneth Josiah.

Manasseh (A)was twelve years old when he began to reign, and reigned fifty and five years in Jerusalem: his mother’s name also was Hephzibah.

And he did evil in the sight of the Lord after the abomination of the heathen, whom the (B)Lord had cast out before the children of Israel.

For he went back and built the high places, (C)which Hezekiah his father had destroyed: and he erected up altars for Baal, and made a grove, as did Ahab king of Israel, and worshipped all the host of heaven and served them.

Also he (D)built altars in the house of the Lord, of the which the Lord said, (E)In Jerusalem will I put my Name.

And he built altars for all the host of the heaven in the two courts of the house of the Lord.

And he caused his sons [a]to pass through the fire, and gave himself to witchcraft and sorcery, and he used them that had familiar spirits and were soothsayers, and did much evil in the sight of the Lord to anger him.

And he set the image of the grove, that he had made in the house, whereof the Lord had said to David and to Solomon his son, (F)In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, will I put my Name forever.

Neither will I make the feet of Israel move anymore out of the land, which I gave their fathers: so that they will [b]observe and do all that I have commanded them, and according to all the Law that my servant Moses commanded them.

Yet they obeyed not, but Manasseh led them out of the way, to do more wickedly than did the heathen people, whom the Lord destroyed before the children of Israel.

10 Therefore the Lord spake by his servants the Prophets, saying,

11 (G)Because that Manasseh king of Judah hath done such abominations, and hath wrought more wickedly than all that the Amorites (which were before him) did, and hath made Judah sin also with his idols.

12 Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Behold, I will bring an evil upon Jerusalem and Judah, that who so heareth of it, both his (H)ears shall [c]tingle.

13 And I will stretch over Jerusalem the line [d]of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab: and I will wipe Jerusalem, as a man wipeth a dish, which he wipeth, and turneth it upside down.

14 And I will forsake the [e]remnant of mine inheritance, and deliver them into the hand of their enemies, and they shall be robbed and spoiled of all their adversaries,

15 Because they have done evil in my sight, and have provoked me to anger, since the time their fathers came out of Egypt until this day.

Romans 7:14-25

14 [a]For we know that the Law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin.

15 [b]For I [c]allow not that which I do: for what I [d]would, that do I not: but what I hate, that do I.

16 If I do then that which I would not, I consent to the Law, that it is good.

17 Now then, it is no more I, that do it, but [e]sin that dwelleth in me.

18 [f]For I know, that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me: but I find [g]no means to perform that which is good,

19 For I do not the good thing, which I would, but the evil, which I would not, that do I.

20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but the sin that dwelleth in me.

21 [h]I find then that when I would do good, I am thus yoked, that evil is present with me.

22 For I delight in the Law of God, concerning the [i]inner man.

23 But I see another Law in my members, rebelling against the law of my [j]mind, and leading me captive unto the law of sin, which is in my members.

24 [k]O [l]wretched man that I am, who shall deliver me from the body of this death!

25 I [m]thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. Then I [n]myself in my mind serve the Law of God, but in my flesh the law of sin.
