Psalm 140

140 1 David complaineth of the cruelty, falsehood and injuries of his enemies. 8 Against the which he prayeth unto the Lord, and assureth himself of his help and succor. 12 Wherefore he provoketh the just to praise the Lord, and to assure themselves of his tuition.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David.

Deliver me, O Lord, from the evil man: preserve me from the [a]cruel man:

Which imagine evil things in their [b]heart, and make war continually.

They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent: [c]adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah.

Keep [d]me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the cruel man, which purposeth to cause my steps to slide.

The proud have laid a snare for me, and spread a net with cords in my pathway, and set gins for me. Selah.

Therefore I said unto the Lord, Thou art my God: hear, O Lord, the voice of my prayers.

O Lord God the strength of my salvation, thou [e]hast covered my head in the day of battle.

Let not the wicked have his desire, O Lord; [f]perform not his wicked thought, lest they be proud. Selah.

As for [g]the chief of them that compass me about, let the mischief of their own lips come upon them.

10 Let coals fall upon them: let [h]him cast them into the fire, and into the deep pits that they rise not.

11 For the backbiter shall not be established upon the earth, evil shall [i]hunt the cruel man to destruction.

12 I know that the Lord will avenge the afflicted, and judge the poor.

13 Surely the righteous shall praise thy Name, and the just shall [j]dwell in thy presence.

Jeremiah 3:15-18

15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

16 Moreover, when ye be increased and multiplied in the land, in those days, saith the Lord, they shall say no more, The [a]Ark of the covenant of the Lord: for it shall come no more to mind, neither shall they remember it, neither shall they visit it, for that shall be no more done.

17 At that time they shall call Jerusalem, [b]The throne of the Lord, and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, even to the Name of the Lord in Jerusalem: and thence forth they shall follow no more the hardness of their wicked heart.

18 In those days the house of Judah shall walk with the house of Israel, and they shall come together out of the land of the [c]North, into the land that I have given for an inheritance unto your fathers.

Ephesians 5:6-20

(A)Let no man deceive you with vain words: for, for such things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

[a]Be not therefore companions with them.

For ye were once darkness, but are now [b]light in the Lord: walk as children of light.

(For the fruit of the [c]Spirit is in all goodness, and righteousness, and truth.)

10 Approving that which is pleasing to the Lord.

11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but even [d]reprove them rather.

12 For it is shame even to speak of the things which are done of them in secret.

13 But all things when they are reproved of the light, are manifest: for it is light that maketh all things manifest.

14 Wherefore [e]he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and stand up from the [f]dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

15 [g]Take heed therefore that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as (B)wise,

16 [h]Redeeming the season: for the [i]days are evil.

17 (C)Wherefore, be ye not unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

18 [j]And be not drunk with wine, wherein is [k]excess: but be fulfilled with the Spirit,

19 Speaking unto yourselves in Psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord in your [l]hearts,

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God even the Father, in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ,
