Psalm 105:1-15

105 1 He praiseth the singular grace of God, who hath of all the people of the world chosen a peculiar people to himself, and having chosen them, never ceaseth to do them good, even for his promise’s sake.

Praise the Lord, and call upon his Name: [a]declare his works among the people.

Sing unto him, sing praise unto him, and talk of all his wondrous works.

Rejoice in his holy Name, let the heart of them that seek the Lord, rejoice.

Seek the Lord and his [b]strength: seek his face continually.

Remember his [c]marvelous works that he hath done, his wonders, and the [d]judgments of his mouth,

Ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, which are his elect.

He is the Lord our God: his judgments are through all the earth.

He hath always remembered his covenant, and promise, that he made to a thousand generations,

Even that which he [e]made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac:

10 And since hath confirmed it to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an everlasting covenant,

11 Saying, [f]Unto thee will I give the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance.

12 Albeit they were few in number, yea very few, and strangers in the land,

13 And walked about from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another people,

14 Yet suffered he no man to do them wrong, but reproved [g]Kings for their sakes, saying,

15 Touch not mine [h]anointed, and do my [i]Prophets no harm.

Psalm 105:16-41

16 Moreover, he called a famine upon the land, and utterly brake the [a]staff of bread.

17 But he sent a man before them: Joseph was sold for a slave.

18 They held his feet in the stocks, and he was laid in irons,

19 Until [b]his appointed time came, and the counsel of the Lord had tried him.

20 The King sent and loosed him: even the Ruler of the people delivered him.

21 He made him lord of his house, and ruler of all his substance,

22 That he should bind his [c]princes unto his will, and teach his Ancients wisdom.

23 Then Israel came to Egypt, and Jacob was a stranger in the land of Ham.

24 And he increased his people exceedingly, and made them stronger than their oppressors.

25 [d]He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal craftily with his servants.

26 Then sent he Moses his servant, and Aaron whom he had chosen.

27 They showed among them the message of his signs, and wonders in the land of Ham.

28 He sent darkness, and made it dark: and they were not [e]disobedient unto his commission.

29 (A)He turned their waters into blood, and slew their fish.

30 (B)Their land brought forth frogs, even in their King’s chambers.

31 He [f]spake, and there came swarms of flies and lice in all their quarters.

32 He gave them [g]hail for rain, and flames of fire in their land.

33 He smote their vines also and their fig trees, and brake down the trees in their coasts.

34 [h]He spake and the grasshoppers came, and caterpillars innumerable,

35 And did eat up all the grass in their land, and devoured the fruit of their ground.

36 (C)He smote also all the firstborn in their land, even the beginning of all their strength.

37 He brought them forth also with silver and gold, and there was [i]none feeble among their tribes.

38 Egypt was [j]glad at their departing: for the fear of them had fallen upon them.

39 He spread a cloud to be a covering, and fire to give light in the night.

40 They [k]asked, and he brought quails, and he filled them with the bread of heaven.

41 He opened the rock, and the water flowed out, and ran in the dry places like a river.

Psalm 105:42

42 For he remembered his holy [a]promise to Abraham his servant,

2 Chronicles 20:1-22

20 3 Jehoshaphat and the people pray unto the Lord. 22 The marvelous victory that the Lord gave him against his enemies. 30 His reign and acts.

After this also came the children of Moab and the children of Ammon, and with them of the [a]Ammonites against Jehoshaphat to battle.

Then there came that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the [b]Sea, out of Aram: and behold, they be in Hazazon Tamar, which is En Gedi.

And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself [c]to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

And Judah gathered themselves together to ask counsel of the Lord: they came even out of all the cities of Judah to inquire of the Lord.

And Jehoshaphat stood in the Congregation of Judah and Jerusalem in the house of the Lord before the new court,

And said, O Lord God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and reignest not thou on all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is power and might, and none is able to withstand thee.

Didst not thou our God cast out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and [d]gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend forever?

And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a Sanctuary therein for thy Name, saying,

(A)If evil come upon us, as the [e]sword of judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we will stand before this house and in thy presence (for thy name [f]is in this house) and will cry unto thee in our tribulation, and thou wilt hear and help.

10 And now, behold, the children of (B)Ammon and Moab, and mount Seir, by whom thou wouldest not let Israel go, when they came out of the land of Egypt: but they turned aside from them, and destroyed them not:

11 Behold, I say, they reward us, in coming to cast us out of thine inheritance, which thou hast caused us to inherit:

12 O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for there is no strength in us to stand before this great multitude that cometh against us, neither do we know what to do: but our eyes [g]are toward thee.

13 And all Judah stood [h]before the Lord with their young ones, their wives, and their children.

14 And Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, was there, upon whom came [i]the Spirit of the Lord, in the midst of the Congregation.

15 And he said, Hearken ye all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou, King Jehoshaphat: thus saith the Lord unto you, Fear you not, neither be afraid for this great multitude: for the [j]battle is not yours, but God’s.

16 Tomorrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cleft of Ziz, and ye shall find them at the end of the brook before the wilderness of Jeruel.

17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: (C)stand still, move not, and behold the [k]salvation of the Lord towards you: O Judah, and Jerusalem, fear ye not, neither be afraid: tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.

18 ¶ Then Jehoshaphat [l]bowed down with his face to the earth, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell down before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.

19 ¶ And the Levites of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.

20 And when they arose early in the morning, they went forth to the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they departed, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear ye me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem: put your trust in the Lord your God, and ye shall be assured: believe his [m]Prophets, and ye shall prosper.

21 And when he had consulted with the people, and appointed singers unto the Lord, and them that should praise him that is in the beautiful Sanctuary, in going forth before the men of arms, and saying, [n]Praise ye the Lord, for his mercy lasteth forever.

22 And when they began to shout, and to praise, the Lord laid ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and [o]mount Seir, which were come against Judah, and they slew one another.

Luke 13:22-31

22 (A)[a]And he went through all cities and towns, teaching, and journeying towards Jerusalem.

23 Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that shall be saved? And he said unto them,

24 (B)Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

25 When the good man of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye began to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us, and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are,

26 [b]Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.

27 (C)But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are: depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

28 [c]There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the Prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out at doors.

29 Then shall come many from the [d]East, and from the West, and from the North, and from the South, and shall sit at Table in the kingdom of God.

30 (D)And behold, there are last, which shall be first, and there are first, which shall be last.

31 [e]The same day there came certain Pharisees, and said unto him, Depart, and go hence: for Herod will kill thee.
