Genesis 2:18-24

18 Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone; (A)I will make him a helper [a]suitable for him.” 19 (B)And out of the ground the Lord God formed every animal of the field and every bird of the sky, and (C)brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. 20 The man gave names to all the livestock, and to the birds of the sky, and to every animal of the field, but for [b]Adam there was not found (D)a helper [c]suitable for him. 21 So the Lord God caused a (E)deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place. 22 And the Lord God [d]fashioned into a woman (F)the rib which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said,

(G)At last this is bone of my bones,
And flesh of my flesh;
[e]She shall be called [f]‘woman,’
Because [g]she was taken out of [h]man.”

24 (H)For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.

Psalm 8

The Lords Glory and Mankind’s Dignity.

For the music director; on the Gittith. A Psalm of David.

Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
You who have [a](A)displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
(B)From the mouths of infants and nursing babies You have established [b](C)strength
Because of Your enemies,
To do away with (D)the enemy and the revengeful.

When I [c](E)consider (F)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (G)moon and the stars, which You have set in place;
(H)What is man that You think of him,
And a son of man that You are concerned about him?
Yet You have made him a (I)little lower than [d]God,
And (J)You crown him with (K)glory and majesty!
You have him (L)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (M)put everything under his feet,
All sheep and oxen,
And also the animals of the field,
The birds of the sky, and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

(N)Lord, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

Hebrews 1:1-4

God’s Final Word in His Son

God, after He (A)spoke long ago to the fathers in (B)the prophets in many portions and (C)in many ways, [a](D)in these last days (E)has spoken to us [b]in His (F)Son, whom He appointed (G)heir of all things, (H)through whom He also made the [c](I)world. [d]And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact (J)representation of His nature, and [e](K)upholds all things by [f]the word of His power. When He had made (L)purification of sins, He (M)sat down at the right hand of the (N)Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, to the extent that He has inherited a more excellent (O)name than they.

Hebrews 2:5-12

Earth Subject to Man

For He did not subject to angels [a](A)the world to come, about which we are speaking. But someone has testified (B)somewhere, saying,

(C)What is man, that You think of him?
Or a son of man, that You are concerned about him?
(D)You have made him [b]for a little while lower than angels;
You have crowned him with glory and honor[c];
(E)You have put everything in subjection under his feet.”

For in subjecting all things to him, He left nothing that is not subject to him. But now (F)we do not yet see all things subjected to him.

Jesus Briefly Humbled

But we do see Him who was (G)made [d]for a little while lower than the angels, namely, Jesus, (H)because of His suffering death (I)crowned with glory and honor, so that (J)by the grace of God He might (K)taste death (L)for everyone.

10 For (M)it was fitting for Him, (N)for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to (O)perfect the [e](P)originator of their salvation through sufferings. 11 For both He who (Q)sanctifies and those who (R)are [f]sanctified are all (S)from one Father; for this reason He is not ashamed to call them (T)brothers and sisters, 12 saying,

(U)I will proclaim Your name to My brothers,
In the midst of the assembly I will sing Your praise.”

Mark 10:2-16

And some Pharisees came up to Jesus, testing Him, and began questioning Him whether it was lawful for a man to [a]divorce his wife. And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?” They said, “(A)Moses permitted a man to write a [b]certificate of divorce and [c]send his wife away.” But Jesus said to them, [d](B)Because of your hardness of heart he wrote you this commandment. But (C)from the beginning of creation, God (D)created them male and female. (E)For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother[e], (F)and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no person is to separate.”

10 And in the house the disciples again began questioning Him about this. 11 And He *said to them, (G)Whoever [f]divorces his wife and marries another woman commits adultery against her; 12 and (H)if she herself [g]divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”

Jesus Blesses Little Children

13 (I)And they were bringing children to Him so that He would touch them; but the disciples rebuked them. 14 But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Allow the children to come to Me; do not [h]forbid them, (J)for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I say to you, (K)whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child will not enter it at all.” 16 And He (L)took them in His arms and began blessing them, laying His hands on them.
