Great Are the Lord's Works
111 [a] (A)Praise the Lord!
I (B)will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart,
in the company of (C)the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the (D)works of the Lord,
(E)studied by all who delight in them.
3 (F)Full of splendor and majesty is his work,
and his (G)righteousness endures forever.
4 He has (H)caused his wondrous works to be remembered;
the Lord is gracious and merciful.
5 He provides food for those who fear him;
he (I)remembers his covenant forever.
6 He has shown his people the power of his works,
in giving them the inheritance of the nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just;
all his precepts are (J)trustworthy;
8 they are (K)established forever and ever,
to be performed with (L)faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He sent (M)redemption to his people;
he has (N)commanded his covenant forever.
(O)Holy and awesome is his name!
10 (P)The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
all those who practice it have (Q)a good understanding.
His (R)praise endures forever!
6 (A)On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
(B)of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7 And he will swallow up (C)on this mountain
the covering that is cast over all peoples,
(D)the veil that is spread over all nations.
8 (E)He will swallow up death forever;
and (F)the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces,
and (G)the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth,
(H)for the Lord has spoken.
9 It will be said on that day,
“Behold, this is our God; (I)we have waited for him, that he might save us.
This is the Lord; we have waited for him;
(J)let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.”
10 For the hand of the Lord will rest (K)on this mountain,
and (L)Moab shall be trampled down in his place,
as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.[a]
35 And when it grew late, his disciples came to him and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is now late. 36 (A)Send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.” 37 But he answered them, (B)“You give them something to eat.” And (C)they said to him, (D)“Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii[a] worth of bread and give it to them to eat?” 38 And he said to them, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And when they had found out, they said, (E)“Five, and two fish.” 39 Then he commanded them all to sit down in groups on the green grass. 40 So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and by fifties. 41 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he (F)looked up to heaven and (G)said a blessing and broke the loaves and gave them to the disciples to set before the people. And he divided the two fish among them all. 42 And they all ate and were satisfied. 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44 And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.
