Psalm 89:1-4

I Will Sing of the Steadfast Love of the Lord

A Maskil[a] of (A)Ethan the Ezrahite.

89 (B)I will sing of (C)the steadfast love of the Lord, for ever;
    with my mouth I will make known your (D)faithfulness to all generations.
For I said, (E)“Steadfast love will be built up for ever;
    in the heavens (F)you will establish your (G)faithfulness.”
You have said, “I have made (H)a covenant with my (I)chosen one;
    I have (J)sworn to David my servant:
‘I will establish your (K)offspring for ever,
    and build your (L)throne for all generations.’” Selah

Psalm 89:15-18

15 Blessed are the people who know (A)the festal shout,
    who walk, O Lord, in (B)the light of your face,
16 who exult in your (C)name all the day
    and in your righteousness are (D)exalted.
17 For you are (E)the glory of their strength;
    by your favour our (F)horn is exalted.
18 For our (G)shield belongs to the Lord,
    our king to (H)the Holy One of Israel.

Jeremiah 28:1-4

Hananiah the False Prophet

28 In that same year, at the beginning of the reign of (A)Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, Hananiah the son of (B)Azzur, the prophet from (C)Gibeon, spoke to me in the house of the Lord, in the presence of the priests and all the people, saying, “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: (D)I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon. (E)Within (F)two years I will bring back to this place all the vessels of the Lord's house, which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from this place and carried to Babylon. I will also bring back to this place (G)Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon, declares the Lord, (H)for I will break the yoke of the king of Babylon.”

Luke 17:1-4

Temptations to Sin

17 And he said to his disciples, (A)“Temptations to sin[a] are (B)sure to come, but (C)woe to the one through whom they come! (D)It would be better for him if a millstone were hung round his neck and he were cast into the sea than that he should cause one of these little ones to sin.[b] Pay attention to yourselves! (E)If your brother sins, (F)rebuke him, and if he repents, (G)forgive him, and if he sins against you (H)seven times in the day, and turns to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent’, you must forgive him.”
