Psalm 29

Ascribe to the Lord Glory

A Psalm of David.

29 Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings,[a]
    (A)ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord in (B)the splendour of holiness.[b]
The voice of the Lord is over (C)the waters;
    the God of glory (D)thunders,
    the Lord, over many waters.
The voice of the Lord is (E)powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is full of majesty.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks (F)the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon to (G)skip like a calf,
    and (H)Sirion like a young (I)wild ox.
The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire.
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
    the Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer give birth[c]
    and strips the forests bare,
    and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
10 The Lord sits enthroned over (L)the flood;
    the Lord sits enthroned (M)as king for ever.
11 May the Lord give (N)strength to his people!
    May the Lord bless[d] his people with (O)peace!

Job 39:26-40:5

26 “Is it by your understanding that the hawk soars
    and spreads his wings towards the south?
27 Is it at your command that the eagle mounts up
    and makes his (A)nest on high?
28 On the rock he dwells and makes his home,
    on (B)the rocky crag and stronghold.
29 From there he spies out the prey;
    his eyes behold it from far away.
30 His young ones suck up blood,
    and (C)where the slain are, there is he.”

40 And the Lord (D)said to Job:

“Shall a fault-finder (E)contend with the Almighty?
    He who argues with God, let him answer it.”

Job Promises Silence

Then Job answered the Lord and said:

“Behold, I am (F)of small account; what shall I answer you?
    (G)I lay my hand on my mouth.
I have spoken (H)once, and I will not answer;
    (I)twice, but I will proceed no further.”

John 14:25-26

25 “These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. 26 But the (A)Helper, the Holy Spirit, (B)whom the Father will send in my name, (C)he will teach you all things and (D)bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.
