Psalm 31:1-5

Into Your Hand I Commit My Spirit

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

31 (A)In you, O Lord, do I (B)take refuge;
    (C)let me never be put to shame;
    in your (D)righteousness deliver me!
Incline your ear to me;
    rescue me speedily!
Be (E)a rock of (F)refuge for me,
    a strong fortress to save me!

For you are my rock and my fortress;
    and for your (G)name's sake you lead me and guide me;
you (H)take me out of (I)the net they have hidden for me,
    for you are my (J)refuge.
(K)Into your hand I commit my spirit;
    you have redeemed me, O Lord, (L)faithful God.

Psalm 31:15-16

15 My (A)times are in your hand;
    (B)rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from my persecutors!
16 (C)Make your face shine on your servant;
    save me in your steadfast love!

Jeremiah 26:20-24

20 There was another man who prophesied in the name of the Lord, Uriah the son of Shemaiah from (A)Kiriath-jearim. He prophesied against this city and against this land in words like those of Jeremiah. 21 And when (B)King Jehoiakim, with all his warriors and all the officials, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah heard of it, he was afraid and fled and escaped to Egypt. 22 Then (C)King Jehoiakim sent to Egypt certain men, (D)Elnathan the son of (E)Achbor and others with him, 23 and they took Uriah from Egypt and brought him to King Jehoiakim, (F)who struck him down with the sword and dumped his dead body into the burial place of the common people.

24 But the hand of (G)Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah so that he was not given over to the people to be put to death.

John 8:48-59

Before Abraham Was, I Am

48 The Jews answered him, “Are we not right in saying that you are a Samaritan and (A)have a demon?” 49 Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but (B)I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. 50 Yet (C)I do not seek my own glory; there is One who seeks it, and he is the judge. 51 Truly, truly, (D)I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never (E)see death.” 52 The Jews said to him, “Now we know that you have a demon! (F)Abraham died, as did the prophets, yet (G)you say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will never (H)taste death.’ 53 (I)Are you greater than our father Abraham, who died? And the prophets died! Who do you make yourself out to be?” 54 Jesus answered, (J)“If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. (K)It is my Father who glorifies me, (L)of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’[a] 55 But (M)you have not known him. (N)I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be (O)a liar (P)like you, but I do know him and I keep his word. 56 (Q)Your father Abraham (R)rejoiced (S)that he would see my day. (T)He saw it and was glad.” 57 So the Jews said to him, “You are not yet fifty years old, and have you seen Abraham?”[b] 58 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, (U)I am.” 59 So (V)they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple.
