Psalm 116:1-4

I Love the Lord

116 I (A)love the Lord, because he has (B)heard
    my voice and my pleas for mercy.
Because he (C)inclined his ear to me,
    therefore I will call on him as long as I live.
(D)The snares of death encompassed me;
    the pangs of Sheol laid hold on me;
    I suffered distress and anguish.
Then (E)I called on the name of the Lord:
    “O Lord, I pray, deliver my soul!”

Psalm 116:12-19

12 What shall I (A)render to the Lord
    for all his benefits to me?
13 I will lift up (B)the cup of salvation
    and (C)call on the name of the Lord,
14 I will (D)pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people.
15 (E)Precious in the sight of the Lord
    is the death of his (F)saints.
16 O Lord, I am your (G)servant;
    I am your servant, (H)the son of your maidservant.
    You have (I)loosed my bonds.
17 I will (J)offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
    and (K)call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will (L)pay my vows to the Lord
    in the presence of all his people,
19 in (M)the courts of the house of the Lord,
    in your midst, O Jerusalem.
(N)Praise the Lord!

Isaiah 25:1-5

God Will Swallow Up Death For Ever

25 O Lord, (A)you are my God;
    (B)I will exalt you; I will praise your name,
for you have done wonderful things,
    (C)plans formed of old, faithful and sure.
For you have made the city (D)a heap,
    the fortified city a ruin;
the foreigners' palace is a city no more;
    it will never be rebuilt.
(E)Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
    cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
(F)For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
    a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
    (G)a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;
(H)for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,
    (I)like heat in a dry place.
You subdue the noise of the foreigners;
    as heat by the shade of a cloud,
    so the song of the ruthless is put down.

1 Peter 1:8-12

(A)Though you have not seen him, you love him. (B)Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining (C)the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

10 Concerning this salvation, (D)the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and enquired carefully, 11 enquiring (E)what person or time (F)the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating (G)when he predicted (H)the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories. 12 (I)It was revealed to them that (J)they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been announced to you through those who preached the good news to you (K)by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven, (L)things into which angels long to look.
