Version
Psalm 119:57-64

ח (Khet)

57 The Lord is my source of security.[a]
I have determined[b] to follow your instructions.[c]
58 I seek your favor[d] with all my heart.
Have mercy on me as you promised.[e]
59 I consider my actions[f]
and follow[g] your rules.
60 I keep your commands eagerly
and without delay.[h]
61 The ropes of the wicked tighten around[i] me,
but I do not forget your law.
62 In the middle of the night I arise[j] to thank you
for your just regulations.
63 I am a friend to all your loyal followers,[k]
and to those who keep your precepts.
64 O Lord, your loyal love fills the earth.
Teach me your statutes!

Proverbs 3:27-35

Wisdom Demonstrated in Relationships with People

27 Do not withhold good from those who need it,[a]
when you[b] have the ability[c] to help.[d]
28 Do not say to your neighbor, “Go! Return tomorrow
and I will give it,” when you have it with you at the time.[e]
29 Do not plot[f] evil against your neighbor
when[g] he dwells by you unsuspectingly.
30 Do not accuse[h] anyone[i] without legitimate cause,[j]
if he has not treated you wrongly.
31 Do not envy a violent man,[k]
and do not choose any of his ways;
32 for one who goes astray[l] is an abomination[m] to the Lord,
but he reveals[n] his intimate counsel[o] to the upright.
33 The Lord’s curse[p] is on the household[q] of the wicked,[r]
but he blesses[s] the home[t] of the righteous.[u]
34 With[v] arrogant scoffers[w] he is scornful,
yet he shows favor to the humble.[x]
35 The wise inherit honor,
but he holds fools up to[y] public contempt.[z]

Luke 18:18-30

The Wealthy Ruler

18 Now[a] a certain leader[b] asked him, “Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?”[c] 19 Jesus[d] said to him, “Why do you call me good?[e] No one is good except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.’”[f] 21 The man[g] replied, “I have wholeheartedly obeyed[h] all these laws[i] since my youth.”[j] 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. Sell all that you have[k] and give the money[l] to the poor,[m] and you will have treasure[n] in heaven. Then[o] come, follow me.” 23 But when the man[p] heard this he became very sad,[q] for he was extremely wealthy. 24 When Jesus noticed this,[r] he said, “How hard[s] it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God![t] 25 In fact, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle[u] than for a rich person to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard this said, “Then[v] who can be saved?”[w] 27 He replied, “What is impossible[x] for mere humans[y] is possible for God.” 28 And Peter said, “Look, we have left everything we own[z] to follow you! 29 Then[aa] Jesus[ab] said to them, “I tell you the truth,[ac] there is no one who has left home or wife or brothers[ad] or parents or children for the sake of God’s kingdom 30 who will not receive many times more[ae] in this age[af]—and in the age to come, eternal life.”[ag]
