Psalm 119:57-64

Heth

57 (A)The Lord is my portion;
    I promise to keep your words.
58 I (B)entreat your favor with all my heart;
    be gracious to me (C)according to your promise.
59 When I (D)think on my ways,
    I turn my feet to your testimonies;
60 I hasten and do not delay
    to keep your commandments.
61 Though (E)the cords of the wicked ensnare me,
    I do not (F)forget your law.
62 At (G)midnight I rise to praise you,
    because of your (H)righteous rules.
63 (I)I am a companion of all who fear you,
    of those who keep your precepts.
64 (J)The earth, O Lord, is full of your steadfast love;
    (K)teach me your statutes!

Proverbs 3:27-35

27 (A)Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,[a]
    when it is in your power to do it.

28 (B)Do not say to your neighbor, “Go, and come again,
    tomorrow I will give it”—when you have it with you.
29 (C)Do not plan evil against your neighbor,
    who (D)dwells trustingly beside you.
30 (E)Do not contend with a man for no reason,
    when he has done you no harm.
31 (F)Do not envy (G)a man of violence
    and do not choose any of his ways,
32 for (H)the devious person is an abomination to the Lord,
    but the upright are (I)in his confidence.
33 (J)The Lord's curse is on the house of the wicked,
    but he (K)blesses the dwelling of the righteous.
34 Toward the (L)scorners he (M)is scornful,
    (N)but to the humble he gives favor.[b]
35 The wise will inherit honor,
    but fools get[c] disgrace.

Luke 18:18-30

The Rich Ruler

18 (A)And a ruler asked him, “Good Teacher, what must I do to (B)inherit eternal life?” 19 And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. 20 You know the commandments: (C)‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honor your father and mother.’” 21 And he said, (D)“All these I have kept from my youth.” 22 When Jesus heard this, he said to him, “One thing you still lack. (E)Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have (F)treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 23 (G)But when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich. 24 Jesus, seeing that he had become sad, said, (H)“How difficult it is for those who have wealth to enter (I)the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter (J)the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard it said, “Then who can be saved?” 27 But he said, (K)“What is impossible with man is possible with God.” 28 And Peter said, “See, (L)we have left our homes and followed you.” 29 And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, (M)there is no one who has left house or wife or brothers[a] or parents or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive (N)many times more (O)in this time, and in (P)the age to come eternal life.”
