Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
A Calm Resolve to Wait for the Salvation of God
To the Chief Musician. To (A)Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
62 Truly (B)my soul silently waits for God;
From Him comes my salvation.
2 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my [a]defense;
I shall not be greatly (C)moved.[b]
3 How long will you attack a man?
You shall be slain, all of you,
(D)Like a leaning wall and a tottering fence.
4 They only consult to cast him down from his high position;
They (E)delight in lies;
They bless with their mouth,
But they curse inwardly. Selah
5 My soul, wait silently for God alone,
For my [c]expectation is from Him.
6 He only is my rock and my salvation;
He is my defense;
I shall not be [d]moved.
7 (F)In God is my salvation and my glory;
The rock of my strength,
And my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people;
(G)Pour out your heart before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
8 (A)The Lord God has sworn by Himself,
The Lord God of hosts says:
“I abhor (B)the pride of Jacob,
And hate his palaces;
Therefore I will deliver up the city
And all that is in it.”
9 Then it shall come to pass, that if ten men remain in one house, they shall die. 10 And when [a]a relative of the dead, with one who will burn the bodies, picks up the [b]bodies to take them out of the house, he will say to one inside the house, “Are there any more with you?”
Then someone will say, “None.”
And he will say, (C)“Hold your tongue! (D)For we dare not mention the name of the Lord.”
11 For behold, (E)the Lord gives a command:
(F)He will break the great house into bits,
And the little house into pieces.
The Lukewarm Church
14 “And to the [a]angel of the church [b]of the Laodiceans write,
(A)‘These things says the Amen, (B)the Faithful and True Witness, (C)the Beginning of the creation of God: 15 (D)“I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither [c]cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. 17 Because you say, (E)‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you (F)to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and (G)white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. 19 (H)As many as I love, I rebuke and (I)chasten.[d] Therefore be [e]zealous and repent. 20 Behold, (J)I stand at the door and knock. (K)If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, (L)I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes (M)I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
22 (N)“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” ’ ”
