Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
21 But You, O God the Lord,
Deal with me for Your name’s sake;
Because Your mercy is good, deliver me.
22 For I am poor and needy,
And my heart is wounded within me.
23 I am gone (A)like a shadow when it lengthens;
I am shaken off like a locust.
24 My (B)knees are weak through fasting,
And my flesh is feeble from lack of fatness.
25 I also have become (C)a reproach to them;
When they look at me, (D)they shake their heads.
26 Help me, O Lord my God!
Oh, save me according to Your mercy,
27 (E)That they may know that this is Your hand—
That You, Lord, have done it!
28 (F)Let them curse, but You bless;
When they arise, let them be ashamed,
But let (G)Your servant rejoice.
29 (H)Let my accusers be clothed with shame,
And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.
God Will Restore Israel
33 “As I live,” says the Lord God, “surely with a mighty hand, (A)with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you. 34 I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out. 35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there (B)I will plead My case with you face to face. 36 (C)Just as I pleaded My case with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will plead My case with you,” says the Lord God.
37 “I will make you (D)pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the (E)covenant; 38 (F)I will purge the rebels from among you, and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the country where they dwell, but (G)they shall not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord.
39 “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says the Lord God: (H)“Go, serve every one of you his idols—and hereafter—if you will not obey Me; (I)but profane My holy name no more with your gifts and your idols. 40 For (J)on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord God, “there (K)all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there (L)I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your [a]sacrifices, together with all your holy things. 41 I will accept you as a (M)sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles. 42 (N)Then you shall know that I am the Lord, (O)when I bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for which I raised My hand in an oath to give to your fathers. 43 And (P)there you shall remember your ways and all your doings with which you were defiled; and (Q)you shall [b]loathe yourselves in your own sight because of all the evils that you have committed. 44 (R)Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have dealt with you (S)for My name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways nor according to your corrupt doings, O house of Israel,” says the Lord God.’ ”
Healing on the Sabbath(A)
6 (B)Now it happened on another Sabbath, also, that He entered the synagogue and taught. And a man was there whose right hand was withered. 7 So the scribes and Pharisees watched Him closely, whether He would (C)heal on the Sabbath, that they might find an (D)accusation against Him. 8 But He (E)knew their thoughts, and said to the man who had the withered hand, “Arise and stand here.” And he arose and stood. 9 Then Jesus said to them, “I will ask you one thing: (F)Is it lawful on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or [a]to destroy?” 10 And when He had looked around at them all, He said to [b]the man, “Stretch out your hand.” And he did so, and his hand was restored [c]as whole as the other. 11 But they were filled with rage, and discussed with one another what they might do to Jesus.
