Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
23 He gave a command to the clouds above
and opened the doors of heaven.(A)
24 He rained manna for them to eat;
he gave them grain from heaven.(B)
25 People[a] ate the bread of angels.[b]
He sent them an abundant supply of food.(C)
26 He made the east wind blow in the skies
and drove the south wind by his might.(D)
27 He rained meat on them like dust,
and winged birds like the sand of the seas.
28 He made them fall in the camp,
all around the tents.(E)
29 The people ate and were completely satisfied,
for he gave them what they craved.(F)
3 Then Moses said to the people, “Remember this day when you came out of Egypt, out of the place of slavery, for the Lord brought you out of here by the strength of his hand. Nothing leavened may be eaten.(A) 4 Today, in the month of Abib,[a](B) you are going out. 5 When the Lord brings you into the land of the Canaanites, Hethites, Amorites, Hivites, and Jebusites,[b] which he swore to your ancestors that he would give you, a land flowing with milk and honey,(C) you must carry out this ceremony in this month.(D) 6 For seven days you must eat unleavened bread, and on the seventh day there is to be a festival to the Lord. 7 Unleavened bread is to be eaten for those seven days. Nothing leavened may be found among you, and no yeast may be found among you in all your territory. 8 On that day explain to your son, ‘This is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.’(E) 9 Let it serve as a sign for you on your hand and as a reminder on your forehead,[c](F) so that the Lord’s instruction may be in your mouth; for the Lord brought you out of Egypt with a strong hand. 10 Keep this statute at its appointed time from year to year.
5 The disciples reached the other shore,[a] and they had forgotten to take bread. 6 Then Jesus told them, “Watch out and beware of the leaven[b] of the Pharisees and Sadducees.”(A)
7 They were discussing among themselves, “We didn’t bring any bread.”
8 Aware of this, Jesus said, “You of little faith,(B) why are you discussing among yourselves that you do not have bread? 9 Don’t you understand yet? Don’t you remember the five loaves for the five thousand and how many baskets you collected? 10 Or the seven loaves for the four thousand and how many large baskets you collected?(C) 11 Why is it you don’t understand that when I told you, ‘Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees,’ it wasn’t about bread?”(D) 12 Then they understood that he had not told them to beware of the leaven in bread, but of the teaching of the Pharisees and Sadducees.(E)
