Lexham English Bible (LEB)
Version
Genesis 3:8-15

Then[a] they heard the sound of Yahweh God walking in the garden at the windy time of day.[b] And the man[c] and his wife hid themselves from the presence of Yahweh God among the trees of the garden. And Yahweh God called to the man[d] and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 And he replied,[e] “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid because I am naked, so I hid myself.” 11 Then he[f] asked,[g] “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree from which I forbade you to eat?”[h] 12 And the man[i] replied,[j] “The woman whom you gave to be with me—she gave to me from the tree and I ate.” 13 Then[k] Yahweh God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 Then[l] Yahweh God said to the serpent,

“Because you have done this,
    you will be cursed
    more than any domesticated animal
and more than any wild animal.[m]
On your belly you shall go
    and dust you shall eat
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put hostility
between you and between the woman,
and between your offspring[n] and between her offspring;[o]
he will strike you on the head,
and you will strike him on the heel.”

Psalm 130

Hope for the Redemption of Yahweh

A song of ascents.[a]

130 Out of the depths I call to you, O Yahweh.
“O Lord, hear my voice.
Let your ears be attentive
to the voice of my supplications.
If you, O Yah,[b] should keep track of[c] iniquities,
O Lord, who could stand?
But with you is forgiveness,
so that you may be feared.”
I await Yahweh; my soul awaits,
and I wait[d] for his word.
My soul waits for the Lord
more than watchmen for the morning.
Yes, more than watchmen for the morning.
O Israel, wait[e] for Yahweh.
For with Yahweh there is loyal love,
and with him there is abundant redemption.
And he will redeem Israel
from all its iniquities.

2 Corinthians 4:13-5:1

13 But because we[a] have the same spirit of faith in accordance with what is written, “I believed, therefore I spoke,”[b] we also believe, therefore we also speak, 14 because we[c] know that the one who raised Jesus[d] will also raise us together with Jesus and present us together with you. 15 For all these things are for your sake[e], in order that the grace that is increasing through the many may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God.

16 Therefore we do not lose heart, but even if our outer person is being destroyed, yet our inner person is being renewed day after day. 17 For our momentary light affliction is producing in us an eternal weight of glory beyond all measure and proportion[f], 18 because[g] we are not looking at what is seen, but what is not seen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is not seen is eternal.

Absent from the Body and at Home with the Lord

For we know that if our earthly house, the tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.

Mark 3:20-35

A House Divided Cannot Stand

20 And he went home, and the crowd gathered again, so that they were not even able to eat a meal. 21 And when[a] his family[b] heard this,[c] they went out to restrain him, for they were saying, “He has lost his mind!”

22 And the scribes who had come down from Jerusalem were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul!” and “By the ruler of the demons he expels the demons!” 23 And he called them to himself and[d] was speaking to them in parables, “How can Satan expel Satan? 24 And if a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom is not able to stand. 25 And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand. 26 And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he is not able to stand, but is at an end! 27 But no one is able to enter into the house of a strong man and[e] plunder his property unless he first ties up the strong man, and then he can thoroughly plunder his house.

28 “Truly I say to you that all the sins and the blasphemies will be forgiven the sons of men, however much they blaspheme. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit does not have forgiveness forever,[f] but is guilty of an eternal sin”— 30 because they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Jesus’ Mother and Brothers

31 And his mother and his brothers arrived, and standing outside, they sent word to him to summon him. 32 And a crowd was sitting around him, and they told him, “Behold, your mother and your brothers[g] are outside looking for you.” 33 And he answered them and[h] said, “Who is my mother or[i] my brothers?” 34 And looking around at those who were sitting around him in a circle, he said, “Behold, my mother and my brothers! 35 For whoever does the will of God, this person is my brother and sister and mother.”
