Deuteronomy 11:18-21

18 “Therefore (A)you shall [a]lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your (B)soul, and (C)bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 19 (D)You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 20 (E)And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, 21 that (F)your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like (G)the days of the heavens above the earth.

Deuteronomy 11:26-28

26 (A)“Behold, I set before you today a blessing and a curse: 27 (B)the blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you today; 28 and the (C)curse, if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside from the way which I command you today, to go after other gods which you have not known.

Psalm 31:1-5

The Lord a Fortress in Adversity

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.

31 In (A)You, O Lord, I [a]put my trust;
Let me never be ashamed;
Deliver me in Your righteousness.
(B)Bow down Your ear to me,
Deliver me speedily;
Be my rock of [b]refuge,
A [c]fortress of defense to save me.

(C)For You are my rock and my fortress;
Therefore, (D)for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me.
Pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my strength.
(E)Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have redeemed me, O Lord God of (F)truth.

Psalm 31:19-24

19 (A)Oh, how great is Your goodness,
Which You have laid up for those who fear You,
Which You have prepared for those who trust in You
In the presence of the sons of men!
20 (B)You shall hide them in the secret place of Your presence
From the plots of man;
(C)You shall keep them secretly in a [a]pavilion
From the strife of tongues.

21 Blessed be the Lord,
For (D)He has shown me His marvelous kindness in a [b]strong city!
22 For I said in my haste,
“I am cut off from before Your eyes”;
Nevertheless You heard the voice of my supplications
When I cried out to You.

23 Oh, love the Lord, all you His saints!
For the Lord preserves the faithful,
And fully repays the proud person.
24 (E)Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart,
All you who hope in the Lord.

Romans 1:16-17

The Just Live by Faith

16 For (A)I am not ashamed of the gospel [a]of Christ, for (B)it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, (C)for the Jew first and also for the Greek. 17 For (D)in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, (E)“The just shall live by faith.”

Romans 3:22-28

22 even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all [a]and on all who believe. For (A)there is no difference; 23 for (B)all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified [b]freely (C)by His grace (D)through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, 25 whom God set forth (E)as a [c]propitiation (F)by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over (G)the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

Boasting Excluded

27 (H)Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? Of works? No, but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude (I)that a man is [d]justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.

Romans 3:29-31

29 Or is He the God of the Jews only? Is He not also the God of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also, 30 since (A)there is one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith. 31 Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law.

Matthew 7:21-29

I Never Knew You(A)

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, (B)‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who (C)does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we (D)not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And (E)then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; (F)depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

Build on the Rock(G)

24 “Therefore (H)whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.

26 “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”

28 And so it was, when Jesus had ended these sayings, that (I)the people were astonished at His teaching, 29 (J)for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
